OMG!! I took my car in for its annual check up in Villa Park this morning. I went to HiView, to get my nails done and I figured Iād wait at the Villa Park Library and listen to my audio book. I took my boots off and got comfy in a couch chair. A staff member came after an hour or two to say that I had to put my shoes on. So I did. Then after another hour he came back and said I couldnāt sleep in the library, I said ok, maybe I dozed off??? Mind you, each time he came to talk to me, I had to take out my ear phones to hear him!! After another hour or so, he comes again to check that I wasnāt sleeping!! I sternly, but politely asked if someone was complaining about me because all Iām trying to do is listen to my audio book in the Library while my car is being looked at!! How annoying to be harassed at what is supposed to be a āPublic Libraryā!! Not only did I not feel welcome, but it was a bit embarrassing. I live in Des Plaines and they allow people of all kinds to hang out there and attend events. I wasnāt bothering anyone, I was just there...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Villa Park Library has pick up boxes right outside the main entrance. These work like the Amazon pick up boxes do. You can sign up and when your hold is ready to be picked up you get a email or text depending on how you asked to be notified and it gives you a QR Code. Then all you have to do is go to the boxes (available 24/7) and follow the prompts on the screen with the code. Then the door open and you take your book(s). And then your book is checked out for your. They can even code it if you are handicap so the locker door is at a reasonable level. So if you use this service you have no contact with anyone and you don't have to rush to get to the library during hours of operation. Great job getting this service Villa Park Library. I have used it several times and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood library, however, only average compared to other libraries in Chicago area. Usually just place holds and pick up for my movies and books. The new building is nice and is cozy for studying and events. And even have a k-cup vending machine if you are going to be here awhile. As well as a rotating used books, cd, movie area in front with good deals. 25 cent books, 50 cent-$1 movies.
However, i wish that the staff would be nicer and most times don't even want to look your way. And if they do or you ask a question they seem bothered or mad. But for basic library needs this suits well and pick up is best to do at this library with self checkout so you dont have to...
