Sterling Chalet — Attraction in Village of Richfield

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Dealt with Heidi and she was not the most friendliest or helpful at all.

Initially emailed her back and forth and was told the rental hall was $2000, but the website said $800 for Saturday rentals.

1st time we checked out the hall - we were just told to walk around and then ask any questions we had. I had asked what information they can provide to us first, but she did not tell us anything and rather told us to ask what questions we just had. I asked her what the discrepancy is between the $800 and $2000 difference is. She told us we needed to cater to qualify for the $800 with a 100 ppl min. In our culture, we do not RSVP to events because we are very family oriented and allow any extended families to attend. Then she told us if we pay a fee of $100 we can decorate the day before.

2nd time we met her - we told her we were expecting around 400 ppl that we knew of, but then she changed her answer and told us we have to cater at least for half our guests. Website also said $220/barrel of beer, but she told us it was $250/barrel. She also told us the $100 fee we pay only gives us 3 hours to decorate the day before the event. We also could not use the back room when she told us we would be renting out the building. When we left, she told us to email any questions we had.

Went home, sent her an email confirming all the missing details and asked her some questions.. she would not give us any estimates of costs nor did she answered any of my questions. Her reply was she still needed my check. (I had already sent it!!)

Felt like all she cared about was money and that there are lots of hidden fees!! Worst experience I've dealt with in my life. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND! I cancelled my contract after 3 strikes.

Let me start off by saying that I just had my wedding here in 9/7/19. I don't live in town and my dad was the one who picked out the venue, mainly because he wanted something that had a bar and would fit a large amount of people. I was a little nervous when I first went to go see the venue but it was such a relief when I saw that it was way better than I had expected.

The first time I met Heidi was on the morning of rehearsal, (we rented the hall that morning say that we could decorate it for the wedding) . Otherwise, we mainly communicated via email and text here and there. Heidi was not only quick with her responses, but she never made me felt like I was bothering her or asking dumb questions. She was very knowledgeable, flexible, and approachable.

The size of the hall was great since my wedding ended up being about 500 people. We didn't have enough seats for everyone (but that was because we only set up for 350 guests since we thought we wouldn't have that many people show up) but there was plenty of room in the bar area for everyone to mingle and drink.

I highly recommend renting the hall the day before to set up and decorate. For the price that we paid for the hall for basically 2 day, being able to bring in our own food which is important in my culture, and the endless amount of beer, I thought it was an amazing deal. Especially since it was for a wedding.

Oh, and I'll also like to add that there was ample parking. Which was a huge plus. I would definitely rent this...

As the bride was very disappointed in some of the things that took place the day of my wedding. We discussed me being able to have the back room where she told me that I could keep my stuff at and get dressed back there. Never once did she tell me it would be rented out until two days before my wedding. I would come for meetings on other people’s big day and they would have the whole room to they self so why did mines change without a decent amount of notice. Some of her staff was not friendly what so ever It was super hot outside and hot in the building. It was upsetting to here her extra guest in the back room make racial slurs and being rude as the pastor was speaking. She never once told them anything about being respectful because there was a wedding going on. One of her staff members made a remark about my party that she probably thought we didn’t hear but we did. I would not recommend this place to anyone that is African American or any other race other than her own. It took my mother everything in her power not to let...
