I don’t get it. Out of over 75 reviews there are two or three ‘one star’, and the rest ‘five stars’. Odd, nothing in between?! Guess I was one of the unlucky few.
Anyway, after a two and a half month wait for my rifle to be re-blued I’m happy to have it back . BUT… if I knew then what I know now, I would have just taken it to where the actual work was done, America’s Gunsmith Shop in Burlington. Ironically, THEY were quite pleasant and helpful. I’m pleased with the work they did.
As for MJ’s, even one star is generous. I know people’s expectations for professional, helpful, and dare I say, friendly service have been lowered over the years, but wow, MJ’s hit a new low mark for me.
From first walking in, to repeated visits, to finally walking out, and the phone calls in between, I was never treated in a professional, let alone friendly manner. Instead I got the distinct impression that I was bothering whomever I dealt with… presumably because I wasn’t making a purchase.
No explanation of any of the available (shipped-out) services, the processes involved, or any written cost/time estimates is one thing, but having to pay for an itemized bill?
For me MJ’s was just an unpleasant middleman. Nobody there has even minimal ‘people skills’. In the end I was shown a nondescript, $379 bill for re-bluing (no copy offered), and given a generic cash register receipt. Period. Not even a thanks, let alone an apology for a very long wait made longer by a piece broken during...
Read moreI had some repair work done at this shop some time ago. It was a very nice store with a good selection of products. The repair work was fine and completed when promised.
There were two things that I'd call negatives. The minor negative was the counter help. Most gun shops that I've been in seem to have trouble finding people with friendly, customer service oriented personalities. The youngish guy who waited on me was no exception and should look for another line of work with no public contact. He was barely civil and in no way did I give him a hard time.
The other issue I had is much bigger and will keep me from using this shop again. When you leave anything for repair, if you want the work done, you'll be forced to sign their "terms and conditions". I tried to read through them, but it was beyond painful. If you really want to understand the full extent of what you're signing, you might want to bring an attorney with you. The terms are so lengthy, you'll be left wondering what, if anything, the shop actually takes responsibility for. I'm sure that they did this because of some unfortunate experience, but this was over the top...
Read moreThe men who work here were great to me. Being a woman, and a smaller stature one at that, I often get mansplained as to what I can and can't handle for a firearm. The staff here did no such thing. They listened to what I asked for, and presented exactly that with no attitude, no judgment, and no trying to talk me into or out of something. I was treated with respect and I very much appreciate that. It isn't actually that common with this type of business to walk in as a woman and be treated with respect. On top of that, the prices here were some of the best around. Not always the lowest, but close enough that I wouldn't even consider some place else when compared to the level of service and respect I received. I absolutely recommend them. Especially for any woman that is looking for these types of products. Thanks again for...
