I've been going to this gym for a while now, and I can honestly say it's one of the best-run facilities I've ever been a part of. The gym is immaculately clean, well-maintained, and the equipment is always in great shape. That’s all thanks to Marvin, the owner, who runs a tight ship and sets the tone for everything.
Marvin is also my trainer, and hands down the best I’ve ever worked with. He’s right there with you—watching your form, pushing you to hit that last rep, and making sure you don’t just show up, but actually put in the work. He doesn’t let you slack, and that’s exactly what makes the difference.
One thing I really appreciate: if you don’t re-rack your weights, Marvin will say something—and if it happens again, you’re locked out. No drama, just accountability. It creates an atmosphere of mutual respect that makes this gym stand out.
Another huge plus: no tripods, no filming your workouts. I love that. It keeps the focus on training—not on social media—and I don’t have to worry about walking into someone’s video or navigating around camera setups. If you’re more into filming yourself than actually lifting, this isn’t the place for you. Try Planet Fitness.
This gym is built on respect, discipline, and community. The people here look out for each other. Over time, they’ve become like a second family to me. If you're serious about training and want to be part of a real gym with real people and a world-class...
Read moreI’ve been a member of East Coast Gym for a number of years and have even used Marvin, the owner’s, training services a couple of times. I love it there. The fact that the gym is private and you need a code to get in really is a plus. It makes you feel safe when you are training at all hours of the day and night. The gym is always neat, clean and well organized. There are plenty of machines for all your fitness goals and if Marvin is in the gym when you are training and you are having difficulty using a piece of equipment he will show you personally and even give you tips on how to get the most out of the machine you are using to match your fitness goals. If you happen to sign up with him to train you get a spectrum of services. Nutrition counseling, workouts, everything you need to meet your fitness goal. I can’t say enough good things about East Coast Gym and Marvin the owner. He is very reasonable and friendly. Come check them out. Take a tour and talk with him. I’m sure you’ll like...
Read moreI’ve been a member at many gyms over the years, but I’ve never experienced an environment as uncomfortable as this one. The owner is extremely overbearing-constantly hovering around members during workouts and obsessively watching the surveillance cameras.
It doesn’t stop there- he frequently sends text messages with screenshots taken from the security footage, calling out supposed “infractions” with an aggressive and threatening tone. This level of micromanagement creates a tense, almost hostile atmosphere that makes it hard to focus on your workout.
On top of all that, the facility itself is poorly maintained. Roaches are a recurring issue, which raises serious concerns about cleanliness and hygiene.
Gyms should be a place where people feel motivated, supported, and safe. Unfortunately, this one feels more like you’re being watched than welcomed. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who values privacy, cleanliness, or a positive...
