BUYER BEWARE!!! Terrible diagnostics and worse customer service!
I returned a battery I purchased for my Toyota months previously because it wouldn't hold a charge. Batteries Plus kept the battery overnight to charge and test it. They told me the battery was fine. They also tested everything with the battery re-installed and stated the battery was fine so something must be wrong with my Toyota. I took my Toyota to a mechanic and paid $90 to learn my car is fine but a cell in the battery was bad. I took it back to Batteries Plus and a different guy tested it and confirmed the battery was bad. I asked what would be done to compensate me for the $90 I needlessly spent because Batteries Plus misdiagnosed my battery. While I figured they wouldnât reimburse me even though it was their mistake, I expected them to at least say they were sorry and maybe a minimal gesture such as a partial refund/discount on my original purchase or an upgrade on the replacement. I received nothing except a snarky attitude from the old guy helping me and his insistence that the "notes" in his computer says it tested fine. Clearly the original diagnostic was wrong because the same battery subsequently tested bad twice. He also stated he was doing me a favor by replacing the battery. I reminded him that thatâs what a warranty is all about and he shouldnât suggest I was getting anything special. He brought out a replacement battery that clearly looked as if it had already been in a car or sitting on a back shelf for years. It was dirty and the labels looked old and didnât match my battery. There were no post caps on it and no plastic bag containing the battery exhaust tube adapter that were attached to other batteries on the shelves. When I questioned this he grabbed another battery off the shelf that looked identical to the one I was returning. Initially I thought he was giving me that new battery but then realized he was only taking the tube adapter from it and still planned to give me the dirty, old-looking battery. When I insisted on the new battery, he made a few more snarky comments as he reluctantly gave it to me. Iâve purchased a number of batteries here, including for golf carts but NEVER AGAIN. There are a lot of places who...
Read moreI went to this store last Thursday afternoon to see about getting a battery for my car. They said they didn't have it but could get it by Friday from their Orange County store - they wrote up an order that said with would be there on Friday by 6:00, they said they would call when it arrived. I waited until 6:00 and called the store. They said (at first ) that the person that left Orange County left after the order went through and didn't have it on the truck. I said that wasn't true as the order went in YESTERDAY and they left today. They took the order again and promised to have it on Saturday by 4:00. I called at 3:00 and they said it would be there. I said should I come over and wait and they said no, they would call me when it came in. I did not receive a call. They had assured me it would come down on Saturday night.... I called today (Sunday) and they said the order did not go through and the person did not bring it down from Orange County! I asked to speak to a manager and the person on the phone said there would be no manager there until Monday. They are terrible! Whoever owns this location and/or manages this location is doing a terrible job. One of the things that frustrates me about this experience is that several times the excuse was "the paperwork did not go through". As you can see by the attached, I have a copy of the paperwork they put into the system and the "PROMISE" date of the first order (by Friday). I guess the word promise doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to me. I went to firestone today to get the...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. Like many other reviews, I spent extra money for a specific car battery that had a 5 year warranty. I started having issues with my battery a couple months ago and took it to this branch. After "testing" it, they said it was likely the alternator. I charged the battery and had a friend test the amperage; everything showed as fine. Within a few weeks, the issues continued. Thinking the employee's recommendation was correct, I took it to my local mechanic where they tested the battery and the alternator. The alternator and charging came back normal, but the battery was at 0%, 11.7V, and 0% health. Customer service was no help. They initially said that the warranty was voided because the charge was at 0%, then tried questioning the validity of my complaint because "no one at the store remembered" me and that my battery was never kept overnight for testing (a service that was never offered to me). My mechanic was upset for me and started handling the conversation after seeing they were taking advantage of my limited car knowledge. Customer service became flustered because it was clear they weren't doing the right thing. Why offer a warranty if you're going to be in clear violation of it? And, notice how all comments to these reviews are the same. It's an apology but zero attempt to make anything better. It's a true sign a company does not actually care about...
