I stayed at this Motel 6 at the Plaza Drive location for one week. It was because it was a personal business situation. During that one week period, I found out this Motel 6 is working with the Department of Social Services and their majority of their people who are staying in this Motel 6 are these Homeless People. These people are using the Section 8, Housing Vouchers. This means these Homeless People are allowed to stay in this Motel 6 for FREE, when I had to pay $96.00 every day to rent out my one room in this Motel 6. The cons: There were a lot of issues I had experienced with some of these Homeless People. For the past 7 days that I stayed at this Motel 6, every night at 2:30 AM, there were a group of homeless men and women talking really loud and laughing nearby my room outside and making loud noises when I was trying to sleep. I had to call the Front Desk Clerk and complain to their employee that their are some Homeless People talking really loud in front of my Room at 2:30 AM when I am trying to get some sleep. I asked this man employee on the phone to send out a security guard and tell this Group of Homeless People to go back to their rooms and come out at 8 AM a normal time the next morning. it frustrated me. I heard these people saying they are sorry and then 10 minutes later the outside was very quiet. There is NO FOOD or DRINKS served at this Motel 6 so I had to drive across the street and eat out at several different restaurants like Wendy’s, El Pollo Loco , Round Table Pizza and Sam’s Donut Shop. It cost me a lot of money eating my breakfast, lunch and dinner at these places every day for one week. On Plaza Drive, every morning through the evening time, the traffic on this street is extremely busy. Inside my Room , there was a few issues, the landline phone would disconnect my incoming phone calls from my sister on a frequent basis due to the phone cord line was broken and this cord kept coming out of the phone and it hung up on my sister. I called the front desk to replace this phone cord. One of their hotel employees said he will send out a maintenance man to fix this landline phone line issue. I waited but no one came to replace the phone line cord in my room. Also, I wanted my room cleaned every single day but no housekeeping was done inside my room. I had to request my room to be cleaned from the office first. I had to clean up my room myself. I was given a Key Card on my first day when I paid for my (7 Days Motel 6 Stay). Their Key Cards didn’t work several times when I used this card to unlock my Room Door whenever I try to Leave my Room and when I come back from somewhere. One time the Bathroom Door closed behind me with me inside the bathroom and I was locked inside this bathroom door and it wouldn’t open at all. I had to bang really hard on this door in order for me to force this bathroom door open. I walked towards the front office and talked to Jackie . I told Jackie the bathroom door closed and wouldn’t open up until 15 minutes later. Jackie told me she will send over a maintenance man to fix the bathroom door. But NO Maintenance Guy came to my room to fix this problem. I learned some of their employees they didn’t listen to my issue. That bothered me because I wanted these two things repaired in my room. I paid $96.00 a day. My total bill was $267.00. Thus Motel 6 is known for a Budget Motel. This is a Basic Motel . They have a large Swimming Pool but no one was swimming in this pool even myself. Because of this cold weather conditions. The pros : The Double Bed, I slept in was comfortable. Also there was adequate space to hang up my clothes in their closet area. I did take showers in the bathroom. The water was a full stream and it gave me hot water every time. Negatives:
I was awakened at 4:30am because my smoke detector started beeping due to low battery. When I called the front desk, he said he was "the only one there" and the maintenance guy wouldn't be in until 9am to take care of it. I didn't need to wake up until 7am, so I lost 2.5 hours of sleep because of this. I simply checked out early and sat in my car until it was time to go to work.
Their elevator felt a little shaky/unsafe... and I noticed their last inspection EXPIRED in mid November 2024. It's the end of August 2025 now. That's over 9 months. Someone even circled it with a Sharpie. When checking out, I asked the front desk guy if he was aware their elevator inspection had expired, and he said no but made a note of it.
No soap or shampoo at all in the room. I heard Motel 6 stopped doing this during the pandemic for "health reasons", but the pandemic ended several years ago. Now they're just being cheap. And didn't soaps come individually wrapped anyway??
The bed springs were VERY squeaky and loud.
I was on the third floor. Zero wifi signal. Could not connect or use it at all. (But I could get wifi on the ground level.)
The highway is very noisy, all night long. I needed to leave my AC unit on as white noise to drown it out and get some sleep. But the unit blows directly on you constantly, no matter how you angle the vent. I ended up sticking a chair in front of it to block the draft on me.
Conclusion: I guess you get what you pay for. But... there's no excuse having an expired elevator for 9 months. That's a safety and liability risk. I have to wonder what other safety maintenance is being neglected. Even the third floor walkway felt off balance, like it was slightly sloping to the side toward the railing. I don't know if that's by design for rainwater runoff or something... or if the building itself is literally sagging.
The worst part is, I had a bad experience at a different Motel 6 a couple years ago. Corporate reached out to me to apologize and offered me a voucher for a free stay at any Motel 6 within a year. But I never needed or used it before the voucher expired. Still, I told myself maybe it was just a one-off bad experience at that particular location and corporate did try to make things right. I give them credit for that. So I gave this other location a chance.
And you know how my experience was here, this time.
I'm traveling for work and NEED a good night's sleep before going to a mentally and physically demanding job the next day.
One bad experience is just bad luck. Two in a row feels like a company-wide pattern.
I hate complaining. I don't like leaving negative reviews. I'm being generous giving this 3 stars (because, in fairness, everything else was fine).
I don't care that I had no wifi in my room on the 3rd floor. I could still use my cell data. I know they have no control over how noisy the highway is, either. And no soap/shampoo is annoying, but life goes on. But bottom line, I paid for a good night's sleep... and I don't feel I got that.
Next time, I'm simply booking at a different chain. Building safety and sleeping uninterrupted through the night are too important.
Budget hotels should be the bare basics. You're paying less to skip all the extra luxuries and amenities. I get that. But if I can't even sleep through the night,...
Read moreGiving it a two star because of the very kind lady who checked me in loved her kindness patience & there was hot water i was not feeling good so I decided to get a hotel by my job the first thing I noticed when I walked in I went straight to the restroom was the roach I killed it there was poop stains still in the toilet went to wash my hands but the sink was clogged i pulled out the stopper to see if the water would go down food came up so i cleaned the sink i had to use the shower to wash my hands then I noticed all the finger prints stains all over the walls The bed had hair on the sheets and on the pillow case I went down to my car went to get the roach and Ant spray & lysol wipes and lysol spray for the beading cuz I didnt want roaches to get in my bag are bed I wiped all the finger prints and the dust that you could see on the head board and TV there was still makeup on the sink area And put a cover over the bed and got my own pillow & blanket put my bag so back in my car so roaches wouldn't get into my bag i took my own trash out so I wouldn't get charged a cleaning fee left the bed made i didnt have a toilet scrubber so I wasn't able to clean the poop stain Dissipointed that I was charged a 50 dollar cleaning fee yet im the one who Cleaned the hotel room still waiting for that 50 dollar deposit since I left the room cleaner then the housekeeper I worked as a housekeeper before its not that hard to clean and that room was not that big to have it left like the housekeeper just strained the bed put fresh towels and new soap bars in there and called it good very Dissipointed in the housekeeping they need to be trained better if they dont like there job I suggest they look for another job i also could not open the window for fresh air also i would love to get a voucher for a free stay for this like other people get when there rooms are messed up cuz I would stay again and I like to train the housekeepers if they need training unless there just being lazy then theres no hope to train them TRAIN THE HOUSEKEEPERS
