Being Filipino and practically living/growing up in South SD my whole life (mostly in Chula Vista/National City areas), eating Filipino food, especially rice, was served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days/week. Having numerous places to go to and eat authentic Pinoy food were a blessing for us who couldn't quite cook like our Lola's could. Since I moved up north to O'side where a drive down to Plaza Blvd. in National City would take a minimum of 1hr, Me, and my belly, are happy to have a place like, JAM PINOY, to open up and serve delicious Pinoy food. There are a very few spots up in North SD (like Del Mar, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos) where Filipino food is sold. So far I've eaten: Pancit, Pinakbet, Pork & Chicken Adobo, Menudo, and the Barbecue Skewers, all deliciously, mouth-waterimg authentic Filipino food that you should want definitely try. Even the Sinigang soup was sour just as I like it! Atmosphere and vibe isn't like some other "Asian" restaurants where you may not feel welcomed right when you walk in. The front counter staff were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. I've been to JAM PINOY 4 times now and I've experienced the same great service and the food was on point each and every time. Highly recommend JAM PINOY for their Filipino food and will try their Jamaican food very soon. Also, there's plenty of parking where they...
Read moreNever been here before and I was next door at Costco and thought, let's order a combo meal and see how it is. Got a 2-item combo with Pancit, and selected Pork Adobo & Chicken Mechado with a side of Curry Chicken.
All were very good. Only drawback with the to-go order was the containers. They don't hold up to all of the hot liquids so they had to wrap it in plastic wrap to keep everything from spilling out.
Overall the food was very tasty. Lots of flavor. The Pancit was quite different from what I've had before. I also make my own Pancit at home and I tend to add more veggies (cabbage, carrots, celery, shrimp, chicken & beef). Their version is okay. The Pork Adobo was excellent. I definitely will get that every time I visit. The Chicken Curry was also very good and not too spicy.
Cute little place that apparently has karaoke too! Will be back to try...
Read moreYum! Called 15 minutes before closing and we had been wanting to try Jam Pinoy! They didn't disappoint. Great phone service, got an ox tail plate, a Filipino plate with adobo and pansit, a chicken patty, soup and lumpia! Lots of flavor, really tasty - a touch salty, but so good!!! Plus, the owner (Jamaican man) was super kind and gave me the Jamaican Jerk chicken to try and boy oh boy was it great!! Good flavor, spicy, but not too spicy, which I've had before. Those scotch bonnets can pack a punch. The family gave me great service despite closing time. Happy customer!! We'll be back for more yum.......
The chicken and pansit was half eaten by the time this...
