Organic Sugar Soap: This product might be certified organic non gmo and other things, but it's in a plastic bottle made from the cheaper plastic (PETE). They don't write about this on their website or list the material the bottle is made of. This plastic (1) PETE is known to leach endocrine disruptors, so your organic body wash is no longer all natural. It was my mistake thinking that since they are certified with all these great certifications, they would use the more expensive, safer, sturdier plastic 2 (HDPE). This organic sugar soap dispensers that I bought had already dried up product residue on the pump like someone used it. All the plastic containers with pumps where unsealed means anyone could have tampered with them during shipping, and Dr. Bronner would not be legally responsible. I contacted Dr. Bronner throught email and called during office hours about questions they never responded. Now I decided I want to return this product and they aren't responding too. (Update: After reaching out to them over and over throught a few weeks they have answered my call and told me that they don't usually do refunds but if I sent them back the products I wanted refunded they would refund me. They did not give me any shipping label therefore you must be aware that if you order anything from their website and you want to return it you will have to spend out of pocket 20-30 dollars to ship their products back to them. Therefore in reality you will not be getting a full refund back and you will have to go through the trouble of wasting time in mailing it back to them. ) The only good thing in this package was the coconut butter because it came in a glass jar and it was sealed. In a separate package came their chocolate, which came in two days as stated by their website. It was pretty good a tad bit sweet but other than that I have no issues with it. Just know that if you are hypoglycemic you cannot eat their chocolate. The next time when I ordered from a different account, the chocolate did not arrive in 2 days' time. This is problematic because you pay for the shipping and they tell you for how long of a delivery your paying for. If the chocolate arrives late you do not get compensated or even sent a reminder that it will be coming late. Other than the coconut and chocolate, the cheap plastic defeats the point of all the organic and healthy stuff inside the container of these hair, body, and face washes/ lotions. Further update: I decided to try some of their other stuff in hopes to relieve my lost hope for this company. Their castile soap was very drying but ok even when diluted as instructed but after a few months when I ordered from their company again on Amazon the castile soap got lost completely. Then when I reordered it it came weirdly packaged and squished. I still decided to give it a go and despite the proper dilution it gave me chemical burns on my lips. I was unable to properly eat or speak for the next few days. I decided to try thir unscented bar soap for the more eco friendly packaging. It did not give me chemical burns but is still very harsh. I had to moisturize any part of my skin that I washed with this soap. If I didn't, after about 3 to 4 uses my skin would turn into white dead skin powder that would fall off. My skin would crack and form small cuts and cracks that would bleed. Do not recommend this soap for anything than washing greasy hair or washing any inanimate objects with rubber gloves. But be warned even for greasy hair your hands will suffer unless you put a thick layer of balm many times throughout the rinsing and washing of your hair. Their toothpaste is nice for brushing teeth because it lacks the harmful chemicals other toothpaste have and has great teeth whitening properties. The packaging is still made of plastic so not very eco friendly but is made of a safer plastic #2 HDPE. One of the few things that I'm happy about is their unscented balm. It's packaging is in a metal tin but comes shipped in plastic😒Their lotion doesn't work well for moisturizing as their balm it...
Read moreWe purchased this previously, directly from their store. We had no problems. When we were going to re-order, we were reluctant because of the number or reviews that spoke of the bottles being broken from shipping. So in the middle of March, we ordered from a retail store that carried the same Dr. Bronner product.
We opened it up this weekend and as usual, my husband took a scoop and ate it. We did not notice until we returned to use it for baking that it had black spots throughout the substance.
I was concerned, and the next day before they opened, sent them an email. Minutes later, we received what appeared to be an AI generated response, with the same information we had found online..
We replied to the email asking for some answer so we could have some reassurance it was OK. Almost eight hours later, no response.
This discoloration throughout the bottles does not appear normal, and both bottles have it. We have purchased many different Coconut oils and they did not have this ugly substance as these two did.
Of course, the first reply from them told us to contact the retailer we purchased it from. And we would do that. But we thought it would also be smart to send the primary company the first email to address the safety.
Apparently, nobody wants to reassure us so we will just wait and see if everything is ok.
update; we did finally hear back from them, but it was business as usual. They said it was "very normal" to have these spots. We disagree. We have not had them before. Nor does the coconut oil look at all attractive to eat. If it was "very normal" we may have seen them before and not been...
Read moreI've always liked Dr. Bronner's Soaps, but after experiencing the Bath Tub at SD Decom and Lightning in a Bottle, I don't think I could ever go back to using anything else! The smell and tingle of peppermint brings me right back to one of the most uplifting and unique experiences of my life. I like to have at least 3 kinds in my shower at all times. Lavender for before bed to relax, almond just because it's my favorite, peppermint and tea tree are invigorating, and rose just lifts the spirit. I love that they leave you feeling clean and not slimey like other soaps, but are't drying. Perfect for travel since you can use them for just about everything: shampoo, body wash,...
