The Rug Mine — Attraction in Vista

My wife and I selected a rug from The Rug Mine just before the new year. The rug looked beautiful online but of course we knew we'd have to see it to verify, since screen color and size can impact impressions. The transaction was smooth and easy, and the meticulously rolled and wrapped rug arrived in about half the estimated delivery time. I was actually shocked; when a large parcel arrived so soon after our rug order, I wondered what it could be, since it did not enter my mind that the rug would be arriving so soon. Amazing order processing and shipping service! Of course that was the moment of truth, the real test. The rug is fabulous, the colors from the computer screen precisely as they are on the rug itself, and the substance and heft of the piece beyond my hopes. It's on the floor of my upstairs office, we live in an older house with rather old hardwood floors, the warmer tones in the rug picking up and complementing the aged wood tones and the beautiful exterior light I am so lucky to have in my office, truly transforming the space. My wife was a bit concerned that the multi-colored design would seem too busy in the space, but instead it confers a sense of engaged action, truly a joyful place to work. SO unlike the sterile office spaces so widespread in commercial workspaces. Nargis, the proprietor, is obviously the heart and soul of the operation, offering assistance if needed and also the amazing service, but never pushing, never intruding in any way, so that the whole process, from researching rugs online to unrolling the rug on the floor, seems weightless, she somehow made the whole transaction like a gentle breeze. I fell madly in love with several rugs from The Rug Mine one day as I scrolled looking for rugs on the Internet. I was pouring over the website and the Instagram posts- loving each rug more than the last, reading the blogs and watching the fascinating videos of how the rugs were made in Afghanistan, as well as learning about Nargis- the owner- and her personal story and mission to help and support the women of Afghanistan. I then saw that I could have a virtual Face Time visit and I contacted her- and from there entered a magical, special world of beautiful and finely made rugs. Nargis, was so kind and personable as well as informative and helped my husband and I choose 3 rugs for our home. She answered all of our questions, both then and throughout the whole process and always kept us informed and up to date about shipping. We couldn't wait for them to come and when they did a few days later- wow- we were just amazed by the colors, the artistry, the softness and luster of the wool and the incredible quality of each one of these rugs! They are as gorgeous- and even more so in person- as her very accurate photos and videos on her site. It's fantastic to know that each one was made by hand over a period of months- not just with artistry but with love- and cared for each step of the way from the hands that made it them, to the Rug Mine and then to our home. My rug looks absolutely beautiful! I am very pleased how it turned out and the size is perfect. It’s a very pleasant arrangement of colors. My only complaint about the experience of buying this rug was the communication with the Rug Mine. It took a month of unanswered emails to finally get my order in. Since the design had to be altered to fit the size I wanted, Nargis told me she would contact me with the final design for my approval. I did mention to her that I was sure they would come up with the best alteration to the design to fit my size. But still, I was never contacted again once the order was placed and paid in full. I had also asked if it would be possible to get a photo of the artisans working on the rug and I was told I certainly could. I never heard any update during the rug making process and when I emailed them asking if that photo was still possible, I never got an answer. I even made a comment about it on social media, hoping to get a response. None. The next communication was that the rug was being delivered. So besides all that, I received a beautiful rug in the amount of time I expected for it to be made and all is good and it’s gorgeous!
