No matter how nice the stadium was for a high school playoff game, this was the most disrespectful and degrading security I have encountered in my 24 years as coaches’ family. One man in particular was extremely out of line with his righteous and irrational way of talking to any and everyone that came near him— aggressively yelling demands at minors who were respectful to his authority, yelling in degrading tones to spectators when they didn’t do what he wanted them to automatically, questioning coaches from both schools on their permission to access the field and denying their access to their own teams, and making a high school student run the perimeter of the stadium to meet up with his team, even though his coach was trying to communicate with the guard to allow him on the field for access to the bus. He got so bad that multiple other security guards or officers had to tell him to calm down and MULTIPLE spectators told him he was out of line. To make it worse, after he would belittle or discipline someone (due to his impatience and faltering ego), he would smirk or smile as he watched the people he offended and hurt walk away, following his aggressive demands. This officer argued with and attempted to kick out a coach from one of the teams, wearing his coach’s uniform, after he had to leave the field to say goodbye to his family when the guard wouldn’t give the coach’s family access to him. On multiple occurrences throughout the game, he made a large scene to enforce his clearly undeserving and abused authority over a variety of people, drawing attention, creating second hand embarrassment, and disregarding any bit of respect or consideration for those involved or even witnessing. While security is important, now more than ever, at public school events (especially in an established facility), there is no need for an ego to determine the way we communicate with one another. I hate that he is only promoting the pompous and irrational stereotypes that come with a uniform, these days, especially to our kids.
It’s unfortunate that this one guard was so prideful to disrespect and diminish the image of Baylor’s morals and values. I’ve never met such a rude and entitled representation of a facility’s pride and ego. I’ve never had such a bad experience at a sporting event, and DEFINITELY never expected this in Baylor’s stadium.
Please be mindful of those guarding the facility. When they ask questions, they may not always be asking with the intent of an answer or to protect, but instead to...
Read moreAfter the first time experience we were, worried about attending a additional event at this venue, but am happy to report that they at least allowed us to be dropped off at the front, shorting our walk by a great amount, so we were able to attend and see our grandchild perform in the state marching contest. Great facility but still need to be more handicap friendly.
First time at the facility and we had a great time, once we were inside and just in awe of this place, it does Waco and Baylor University proud. That said getting into parking lot was the worst experience I have ever had to endure. Parking lot personal were rude and very unprofessional. We did arrive just before game time and did not expect there to be any Handicap parking still available but wanted information as to were we could unload the handicapped person before we parked, was told rather rudely that drop offs were not allowed and to just park in next available spot. After the fifteen minute walk, we reached handicapped area to find still a number of unoccupied spots that we could have used, then we were made to go an additional distance so that they could check out the oxygen equipment that we had, no cutting corners, go back down and take the longest ramp in history to get to the check point. After we finally got inside and arrived at a handicap seating area, we were told they could only allow one chair because there was only one handicapped person and the other two would have to sit down away from the one. If they would have been taking space up that keep a needy person out I could understand that policy but on a general admission tickets event that most seats are available, that policy makes a handicaped person feel pointed out and made to be away...
Read moreTo begin with, the stadium is beautiful. It is well designed and well planned out. I have sat in many different areas of the stadium including the berm. Although I would not recommend sitting in the berm section, some people seem to enjoy it and it is very economically priced. The berm is sectioned off from the rest of the stadium and you do not have access to any other areas except the berm area.
I do not believe there is a bad view in the stadium, but choosing seats in respect to the sun can be a good idea. If you sit in the top section of the stadium you will be exposed to the sun at all times. There are other areas of the stadium where you can sit under the overhang of other sections.
The food offered is very good and I do not have any complaints about it. You can get nachos, burgers, hot dogs, specialty sandwiches, pizza, corn dogs, tea, lemonade, pepsi products, popcorn, and basically any other stadium food you can think of.
My only gripe about this stadium is the parking. Unless you somehow manage to find a parking pass for the actual stadium you must park quite far. Parking with a free shuttle is available at the Ferrell Center, the parking garages, and downtown. You must have a parking pass for the Ferrell Center. I'm not sure about the garages, and you do not need one for downtown parking.
Overall I enjoy going to McLane, it is a...
