Walkertown Community Park has the best public walking/running dirt tracks in the Triad. Unlike similar public dirt tracks, WCP's dirt track is relatively flat and well maintained (3 laps = 1 mile).
Fyi, walking/running on a dirt track provides much more cushioning for one's feet and joints than paved asphalt or concrete tracks. The downside is that dirt tracks generally require much more maintenance than paved tracks.
WCP also has ample parking and well maintained climate controlled restrooms.
Additionally, there are several baseball fields, tennis courts, a soccer field, covered picnic tables, and a playground. Can't really comment about the quality of that stuff because I only go there...
Read moreOverall it's a nice park. There's a large track around a baseball field and large grassy area. There are two baseball fields and a soccer field, and bleachers at each field. There are tennis courts, as well. There's a small wooded area with short gravel trails. A few picnic tables and one nice large shelter that has a large grilling area and lots of picnic tables. There is a playground area, horseshoes, and a beach volleyball court.
The only things I really notice are that there should be more trees and that unfortunately there is quite a bit of trash everywhere.
It would be so nice if there was a dog park here or more shaded...
