In the entrance of the store they have a sign plugging their Instagram. Yet, this weird haircut man gets upset that someone wants to take free pictures, upload, tag them on Instagram for fun, as free advertisement, as this is just a hobby. All the places who do not want pictures have a sign when you walk in, and don't have a sign plugging their Instagram. Which in all my years of antiquing I rarely see this. Not only was I going to post them to Instagram, I was going to revive my review accounts, and post on a few other socials praising the place till this experience. Not gonna happen now, as I am deleting all the pictures, and instead writing a novel of this bad experience. Sad, because I was generally exited post, and instead left upset from the rude encounter.
I do not take pictures of people in the stores I shoot in. If I happen to catch anyone its a blurry mess in the background you cannot make out, as I focus the items that catch my eye. I mostly wait for people to be out of shots, or shoot above them, and not catch them at all. In this store not a single one of shots has a person in them. One person thought she was in my shot I guess, and did a fun pose, but I missed it because I taking a pictures of the beautiful hanging lights on the ceiling I was interested in. My girlfriend was the one that let me know the person posed for me. I really had no idea that had transpired, as I was playing with my 50mm lens and looking up.
Not only did the weird haircut man wait till we were done going through the whole store, while surrounded by a bunch of people to call us out, and make things awkward. Other employees saw me take out my camera when I walked in. Also, the taller employee with long hair was walking around, was super nice, and said hello while we walking with my camera out. He also let us know to ask if we needed any help. Yet this weird haircut man wait till we are pretty much done. I didn't even get to check the prices on the pieces I was actually interested, since the awkward weird haircut man ruined my mood by being so unpleasant. Even after I told him that the pictures are for Instagram, but also for pieces I was interested in. He continued to make things awkward that I know longer felt comfortable, and was pretty embarrassed that he would do such a thing, instead of pulling me aside. When he had plenty of opportunities to do so. Not sure why he wait till I was done taking my last picture.
Never once have I had an issue taking pictures in small stores, and people are generally excited, ask if I am going to post them, ask me to tag the store, and ask for my handle sometimes. I do this as a hobby to support small businesses I like, and have loved antique/vintage items since I was little. I have been going to these types of places since I was kid, and recently got a nice camera, so I decided to share the cool, and beautiful things I find. While always tagging these places, as well as leaving comments in my post about the place. I normally do not do reviews anymore at all, and in fact started up again to make this post.
I guess I should also comment about how some pieces are massively overpriced for what they are, and you know they got at rock bottom price from auctions, and...
Read moreWe purchased a terrific rug from Ramblemarket and were delighted with the whole experience! We liked how Cheryl, Jon, and rug expert Cal were not just helpful and informative, but they really listened to what we had in mind. They were very relaxed and did not rush our decision. They understood the nuances of lighting, how rug colors can appear different from varying angles and in different environments. They offered to bring the rug to our house so we could feel sure about our choice before finalizing the purchase. Cal actually moved furniture and installed the rug—this was very impressive and enormously helpful! He was especially attentive to our wishes about rug placement and realigning furniture the way we liked it. Also, he deftly moved furniture and objects gently and carefully. It was obvious that Cal was knowledgable about more than rugs. Following our rug purchase, we ordered the recommended rug pad and Cal returned to install it—again! We felt very lucky to work with Cal because his temperament and behavior made us feel that he was very invested in wanting us to be happy not just with the rug, but with the entire...
Read moreRamble Market has a wide selection of mid century modern furniture and housewares in their 10,000 sq. ft warehouse. You are sure to find something that will pique your interest. However, I found that many of their framed items showed signs of damage, as other reviewers have mentioned. For the listed prices, one might expect the artwork to not have shattered glass, water damage, or broken frames. I understand that many of the items are vintage and well loved, but it comes across as a bit sloppy.
What I find most disappointing is the lack of responsiveness from the owner, Jon Ames, when it comes to selling furniture from an estate. He could not be reached via the phone or email listed on his business card/website after numerous attempts to make contact over email, phone, and at the store for over two months.
Good, but not good enough to make up for high markup on items and lackluster...
