THIS TO me is probably the best supermarket in the area. very well organized..and extremely clean. a couple issues.. the people who stock shelves do not make any effort to move if you are trying to walk the aisle. also the produce workers chatter in a language other than English which is kinda disrespectful. however all the employees are very hard workers and the cashiers and baggers are great as well as deli and fish and meat employees. management is on top of busy times opening as many registers as needed. im very grateful to have this store convenient to me. i thank you Market Basket.... hmmm six months later and i am truly grateful for Market Basket. however i will restate this opinion. the stocking workers and produce workers are seriously disrespectful to customers. stocking workers will not move unless you get up in their face which should not be necessary at all. and the produce workers are the same. they totally ignore customers. they speak in a foreign language which i do not understand. dear MB can you please train these employees properly. i also want to stress the deli dept and fish dept are totally wonderful which is much appeciated. then the market basket kitchen employees are meh.. sometimes fine and other times not so fine. the cashiers are great.super friendly. i appeciate management trying to help with such awful high prices thru no fault of their own of course. even with the issues i pointed out Market Basket is the best grocery store out there. THank you for reading this. hmmm later again in June 02 2024. the store is impossible to navigate and absolutely no one at the registers speaks english which makes it now impossible to shop there. this is...
Read moreOverall a great place to shop and comparatively cheaper than the competition. No gimmicky coupons but overall lower prices and sales running over few items. Great variety in household, grocery and day to day pharma. Nothing beats Market Basket in item variety and overall pricing. They have also been able to weather inflation far more than others on their own brands as well as others.
If you find walking a chore, the 70 bus marked Market Place Drive drops you directly there from different stops alongside the route.
Amenities: 1- Market Kitchen - their cafeteria makes fresh and cost effective foods. You can order in advance which is good because depending on the time of the day it can be quite busy like lunch time. Most foods on the grill are freshly prepped. The steak bomb, cheese burger and hot dog are great starts. 2- MB Wine & Spirits - a spirits shop nearby that does tasting every now and then 3- Bottle/Can crushing on site. 4) Reasonable sitting space to enjoy your meals and benches outside the building for people waiting for their bus.
Tips: a) Market Kitchen - Stay away from dinners as they aren't freshly prepared and sometimes rice and veggies can taste dated because they have been lying around. Additionally avoid evening pickups as the food may not be rotated as regularly. Check the timing of the kitchen before going because on Sunday it closes an hour earlier.
b) Their fruit section is competitive but sometimes other stores launch deals which can be cheaper.
c) Their fresh rotisserie chicken is good but not great and the taste degrades significantly when refrigerated. So if you are thinking of picking the frozen rotisserie for a few cents off, I would...
Read moreAn improvement over other Market Baskets but still falls short in many areas. Most of it is much like putting lipstick on a pig. Natural foods are mis-merchandised to give people an impression that they are buying something better quality than what they are actually buying. Prices are indeed overrated - since the summer boycott has ended, the pricing gap between them and virtually all their competitors has narrowed considerably - in many cases, it has been eliminated. While certainly better than your typical Star Market in Boston, they aren't that far from Shaw's in Burlington once thinking you can always use a $5 off $50 available through a website called recyclebank or even Hannaford down the street for preservative-free products. However, Wegmans can be better if you regularly buy a fair amount of family packs and you use their shoppers club mailer coupons. Trader Joe's is certainly better for most similar items carried in both stores.
For those that just don't care about quality, don't want to buy bulk sized items you'd typically find in a warehouse club, and want to get out with the cheapest grocery bill and want to pay their savings up in increased healthcare costs, I guess go ahead and shop here as many store brand items are value based items with a lower standard quality than their competitors' standard line (and henceforth a lower price).
To get out of this shopping complex, I followed my way back to where I came in from. The street directs you to turn a left into a construction/hard hat area - how could you direct customers to do this? Overall, this is a 2 star review but definitely a solid 1...
