Fully understand the severity and issue that showing up 5 minutes past our tee time causes but the disrespect that we were treated with by the gentleman who was working the carts was unacceptable. He rudely explained to us the meaning of a tee time to which we acknowledged and proceeded to begin to play. First time playing here and a line of carts was blocking where the first tee box was. We drove off thinking it was further in the distance and were mocked when we came back around after we realized our mistake. To Deescalate the situation we decided to skip the first hole and play on from the second one. For the sake of time we played a scramble to make sure we werenât holding up people behind us. Throughout the entirety of the 17 holes (some of which were in pretty bad shape) that we played we felt perfectly balanced between the people in front of us, who at times we waited to tee off, and the people behind us. As we approach the clubhouse after the 16th hole The same gentleman (Bill?) Made sure to come over and comment on our pace of play. Our group was all beginners and with this was our first or second time respectively playing a full 18 holes. After finishing he made sure to come over and tell us we would be faster if we drove over the course to our balls. Mind you, every other course Iâve ever been to has specifically asked for players to not do so as it can damage the fairway.
I apologize for any issues that our tardiness may have caused, and I fully understand that it is his responsibility to keep everything that happens on the course in check (pace of play and start time). but the way that we were treated was appalling. I wholeheartedly recommend assessing your staff. The woman behind the desk was incredibly pleasant and friendly upon check-in. As a business owner of 6 stores we would not allow any employee to work for us after behavior like this. If us being 5 minutes late should have disqualified us from being able to play I would not be writing this review. We will absolutely never...
Read moreNo driving range, so no surprise that people don't want to show up well ahead of their tee times. Very tight fairways typically lined with trees/woods/tall fescue, high rough. Many blind tee boxes, meaning without a forecaddy, there will be many lost balls that might normally be found if you could see the landing area. Which means more time wasted searching for balls. Grass isn't cut short enough on tee boxes, meaning even teed balls can have some grass come between club and ball, potentially creating fliers on irons, or some drag on driver swings. Tees aren't all on flat ground (gold at least), so repeatedly I had to search around for a flatter area to stand and without grass interfering. Rough is erratic, had a couple balls come to rest in some sort of grown-over but unrepaired mini-gullies near greens. Saw another player nearly fall stepping into a depression just off a green. Fairway grass isn't always in great shape either, had a couple of bad lies in the fairway, not in divots, just fairway not in good shape, which is hard to swallow given how tough it is to even stay in the narrow fairways. Greens were nothing special fairly small but flattish, but there were variations in speed among them. Mostly slow but a couple seemed randomly faster. No water fountains/machines on the course, just one rickety vending machine next to the one bathroom. Starter was cranky as previously reported by others. Advice for management - if they want to keep the golfers flowing through the course in under 4.5hours, cut the fescue, cut the rough/trash areas down to a level where people can find their balls without standing right on top of them. The number of trees already protect the course adequately. Photos/diagrams of the hole at the tee box would help golfers better guess where the hole/landing zone is. Maybe also reduce the number of groups who accidentally get hit into on the other side of the hill...
Read moreThere's a difference between a course being challenging and then just flat out dumb. This one is beyond dumb. Never have I hit so many balls well on great lines only to have them not be found on the walk up. On top of that if you have a dog leg or a hole that has a thin fairway, maybe having deep rough or string fescue would be logical but not here. When you miss your shot (or hit a good one that just never stops moving down there) you are hitting off of rocks, tree bark, pure dirt, and/or sticks. I broke my club on one of these lies. The last 3 holes and the first hole I'll give a pass on this cause the OB line is clear and the rough patches are decent. But the overall design along with greens that never break in the right direction or at all when there is a clear angle and the dirt patches all around it show that this is a true public course nightmare
Doesnt matter if you are a good golfer or not cause even if you play the lies correctly you still won't end up on the fairway or likely near the hole, I'm not pro golfer but I'm not one who shanks shots like crazy. So when I can't even find my good shots and neither can anyone. Then I give this 0 stars honestly
Lost my patience after these occurances through 4 rounds...
