This was our second time coming here. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a history lesson on the jail and stories involving the people who inhabited the jail and then sent us off to explore. There was so much to see from information about the women's suffrage movement, native American artifacts, murder weapons from the 1800s, artifacts from the jail, the courtyard and jail cells..and so much more. It was informative, fun, ominous at times, and just a neat part of history and Warrenton.

An AMAZING place to learn about the local history of Fauquier! All the exhibits are full of so much information, but it’s easy to read, making it accessible for any audience. Not to mention, they do other fun events like ghost tours, weddings, and they were even featured on a paranormal show! Whether you’re a local, or just visiting, this is definitely a place to cross off of your Fauquier bucket list!

We took our grandkids to the museum and jail as part of an outing. It was very, very popular with all of us. Both the museum and the old jail were fascinating. Our 9 year old was impressed by how tough the maximum security cells were. Great history outing!

We stopped in for a tour on a Sunday afternoon in April while traveling. Somehow I had heard about it and saved it on the map for when we were in the area.

There is a small admission fee with multiple discounts available. We were greeted by a gentleman who was working - I didn’t catch his name - but he was friendly, personable and had a knack for storytelling. He was very knowledgeable about the property and the history of it and the town and surrounding areas.

There are some informational displays in the first building and then there is a 5-10 minute film to watch before heading to the cells. It was interesting. This was a self guided tour but I believe they host other guided tours and sounded like they have some other events...

We had our wedding ceremony held in the courtyard of the old jail on 2/19/21. Sean, the Executive Director of the museum was quick to respond to my email, answering all of my questions. He was friendly and made the planning so much easier. There was snow and sleet the day before the ceremony and they shoveled almost every bit of snow from the courtyard. There were small bits left in the corners and we thought it set the scene and looked beautiful. They not only communicated well and provided quality customer service, they put in the physical labor to ensure our ceremony space was exactly what we paid for. Gorgeous little nook, glad we had this historical piece of architecture as the backdrop to our...

The jail is amazing just up until the past few weeks, cause my husband and I do paranormal, and visit jail like all the time/ every weekend and have put hundreds of dollars towards the jail and the director Erin Clarke got nasty with my husband and said that “You can get out now” in a nasty mean rude way and we just don’t seem welcomed there. Also we tried to volunteer and she refused/ denied us and that’s discrimination. Seth and Laura and the other staff is wonderful, just Erin is rude and I don’t recommend going there, save your money and go to something else or to a different historical museum cause she doesn’t appreciate your money. Greed is all it...
