I stopped by WeirdDoughs on a Sunday late morning, lured in by the promise of carbs and caffeineâand I have to say, it was a bit of a mixed experience.
Letâs start with the highlight: the dirty chai tea. Absolutely phenomenal. It tasted like drinking fall in a cupâwarm spices, bold espresso, and just the right amount of sweetness. Iâd come back for that alone.
The Vegged Out Bagel on a cheddar onion bagel was a delightful combinationâfresh, flavorful, and satisfying. However, as a Northerner, I have to admit the bagel itself left something to be desired. If you're used to the chewy, doughy perfection of a true NYC bagel, these might feel more like pretzel rolls in disguise. Not bad, just... not quite bagels.
The space has potential but feels underdeveloped. Itâs semi-inviting but sparseâlots of bare walls and not much character. With a name like WeirdDoughs, youâd expect some quirky, playful decor or at least a creative nod to the brand. Sadly, they missed the mark there.
The crowd was another miss. During my visit, the space was overrun with teens taking selfies and hanging out in the ordering area, making it difficult to get from the register to a table. I watched staff struggle to get orders out to customers because of people hanging out blocking paths to tables. The layout doesnât help eitherâthe ordering and pick-up flow is awkward and quickly turns into a bottleneck during busy hours.
All in all, WeirdDoughs has some strong points (did I mention the chai?) but could benefit from some layout tweaks, atmospheric upgrades, and a little more personality to truly live up to its name. I plan to return to try a vegged out on a different bagel and to get...
Read moreThis was my second time visiting the new location. The first time was just after their grand opening so I could excuse to slow service due to the sheer volume of patrons. But this second time, I donât have much sympathy. I placed an online order at 10:45 am with an estimated pick up time of 11:10 am. I showed a few early, the associate at the counter told me it would be ready shortly and they would call my name.
Fast forward 25 minutes later and my name still had not been called. At the time of me checking in, there was 1 party in front of me. More people had come in after me and received their order. I finally asked one of the associates delivering the food to check on my order. She comes out not even 2 minutes later with my bag. Who knows how long it had been ready. With a slight attitude, she handed me the bag and said âpick up orders are picked up at the frontâ. If you have been to this location you would know the area where you order is tiny. If everyone who had ordered online waited there, that would be an egress issue.
When I finally got home, we realized one of our bagel sandwiches was wrong.
Unless you have 30+ minutes to spare to wait for food, I would skip this. Disappointed...
Read moreA "Dill-ightful" Experience at Weird Dough Bagels! I had the most incredible bagel experience at Weird Dough Bagels during picklepalooza, and I'm still "kneading" more! This place is an absolute "hole-in-one" for bagel lovers. I went for the classic naked bagel, but the real star of the show, the one that truly "soured" all my expectations (in the best way!), was their loaded pickle schmear. Let me tell you, this schmear is packed with so much pickle goodness. Each bite was a burst of tangy, savory flavor, perfectly complementing the fresh, chewy bagel. It's so good, it'll make you want to "dill-iver" a standing ovation! I'm not jerking your chain, this schmear is a game-changer. It's truly a "big dill"! The bagels themselves are perfectly "rounded" â crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. You can tell they put a lot of "loaf" into their craft. This place is definitely not "schmear-e" when it comes to quality and flavor. If you're looking for a bagel experience that's anything but "plain," you must check out Weird Dough Bagels and their loaded pickle schmear. It's a taste sensation that's sure to leave you "brining" from ear to...
