Stay away from this place especially if you have a groupon. I purchased a 60 min message voucher from groupon for this establishment. I ignored the bad reviews from woman customers who felt uncomfortable because they felt their message therapist got sexual pleasure from overly focusing on certain body parts. I also ignored reviews from customers who purchased Groupon vouchers and got treated poorly. Don’t make the mistake I did listen to the bad reviews.
I called to book an appointment in February. I was told that I wouldn’t be able to be seen until to May 24th which was 2 months out. The girl on the phone was extremely rude when I asked her “why so 2 months out, you guys can’t be that busy”. I was told “well if you was paying with cash you could seen sooner”. I’m sorry didn’t know there was a difference.
To make a long story short I booked the appointment. The appointment was so far out that other obligations arose and when i tried to reschedule nobody answered the phone. I drove up to the parlor and was greeted by the receptionist who apologized for not answering the phone. Supposedly they were having technical difficulties. When I tried to reschedule she told me that since I had a Groupon Voucher the next available appointment was going to be July (2 months out) and I would have to pay an additional 25 dollars since I missed the first appointment (even though they dont answer their phones). I was also informed that I could be seen that day if I wanted to pay in cash. The receptionist told me this is coming from the owner not her.
To rap this up if you purchase a Groupon voucher to Body Bliss you will be treated like a 2nd class citizen. If this business doesn’t want to honor vouchers don’t put them on Groupon. Groupon didn’t force you to put those vouchers on their website. I try to support black businesses, but unfortunately a lot of them are run like Body Bliss. Time to take my “black dollars” to the China man where I will be...
Read moreI purchased a Groupon for my wife’s birthday to have a couples massage at Body Bliss. As soon as I gave it to her we called to make an appointment, however no one picked up (including an answering machine). We continued to call over the next several weeks until we were finally able to leave a message. We left a voicemail only to never receive a call back. I repeated this process on and off for the next several months leaving numerous voicemails when an answering machine actually picked up. I finally got a hold of them in February and asked for their availability. We live two hours south of D.C. in Maryland, so we could only book an appointment on the weekends. The person on the phone told us that they had an opening in April; however this was an issue as the Groupon would be expired by that time. The employee told me that we would be charged an extra $20 for the services since the Groupon would be expired. After speaking with a different employee and finally the manager to explain the issue, they agreed to "waive" the $20.
Fast-forward to yesterday. My wife and I find a baby sitter and drive two hours to D.C. to finally get our massages. We find Body Bliss in not the nicest neighborhood, but decide to make the best of it. We checked-in and were seating in the lounge which was in disrepair to say the least. After waiting ten minutes, one of the therapists came out to tell us that they double booked their appointments and they would not be able to see us. My wife and I both explained that we had driven two hours and had already experience enough grief trying to get an appointment in the first place, but to no avail.
My recommendation? Stay far far away from this place. If you manage to get past the terrible customer service, you will find Body Bliss in the middle of the ghetto with the inside being...
Read moreI have just moved to the area , and looking for a massage/spa so the best way for me is to try groupon deals. I arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment,, and soon after a lady whom I found out later was scheduled to be my masseuse got in her car and drove away (presumably to lunch). The lady at the desk when I checked in showed me to my room a couple of minutes before my appointment time and informed me that my masseuse would be in at my appointment time. Ten minutes later, the lady at the receptionist desk when I checked in (Diane) walked in and informed me that she was to give me the massage because the masseuse (the one that left for lunch) was stuck in traffic. Lol such professionalism. Anyway, the substitute masseuse assured me she is licensed and I allowed her to give me the massage, because by now I had made up my mind that this was the last time I would step foot at this establishment. She did her best to rub oil on my body, but I asked for a deep tissue massage. After the massage, she handed me a black robe. 1st red flag.....a black robe? in a spa? 2nd issue....it smelt of oil. It was clearly a dirty robe and had been used. Disgusting!!!
It's so unfortunate, because I typically prefer to trade with these types of small businesses, but every now and then I become terribly disillusioned. Oh well...such is life. You win some and lose some. hopefully my next experience will be what I'm looking for. I'm only giving it 2 stars because my substitute masseuse was really nice and...
