Read moreThis use to be my favorite Jamaican restaurant....I ordered almost $100 worth of food tonight as they were closing....the rasta pasta was awful...chicken hair was all in the meat.....it was not fresh....the wings I ordered were not fully cooked and slimy....I had stopped ordering via them because of a prior bad experience with the rasta pasta.....idk why they are declining in food quality but I will give them 1 LAST chance, then I will be done and that will be with caution as I will definitely check my food before leaving....Update ordered 1 LAST time tonight...rasta pasta and jerk chicken (not wings) the jerk chicken was ok. The rasta pasta however was horrible....I included a picture this time....it was dry no sauce....completely disappointed.
UPDATE!!!! Today (12/11/2024) On this rainy Wednesday, I had a taste for some rasta pasta, was going to order on UberEats, but the price for the food alone was over $25 just for 1 rasta pasta so I drove over 30 mins in rush hour traffic in pouring rain to the Queens Chapel Rd location...my order came to $28 for one rasta pasta...as I waited for my food to be prepared, I could not believe my eyes! A roach 🪳🤯 was crawling beside my head as I stood near the register watching as they made my food....idk why I didn't leave immediately when I saw that.... THEN this Spanish boy that was in the back, took his bare hands and tossed the vegetables to the rasta pasta!!! After I saw him wipe his nose with the same hand!!! He had one glove on! I immediately asked for a refund & the girl at the register pointed to a sign that said (No Refunds), I demanded a manager....while waiting for the manager, the same boy, took his teeth and opened a bag of shredded cheese!!! The same cheese they put on the pasta. Then this Spanish girl that was working beside him was taking her bare hands, eating the chicken she was serving & she also took her hands (no gloves) and wiped her nose! I couldn't believe my eyes! Nobody had on hair nets! Even the African American girls & one of the girls had weave and all I could think about was hair getting in someone's food🤦🏾♀️....the manager took forever to come out, some light skin lady (she was behind the curtains in the dining area, with the curtains closed, having a meeting with the owners) she didn't apologize but she told me she would fix the situation and refunded my money back to my card, which will take 3 to 5 business days. As she was refunding my money, I noticed the Spanish boy all of a sudden had on gloves 🙄....As I said before this use to be my favorite restaurant. They have truly lost me this time as a customer and this will be my last review. It's a shame you try and support black owned businesses & the professionalism just declines. I wasted gas and time and not only that have to wait for my funds to be returned. I only regret not recording what I saw on my phone. Maybe I will go back just to post a video of the total nasty & unsanitary conditions & behaviors I saw. I will never eat from them again. I gave them so many chances after saying I wouldn't but this was definitely the nail on the coffin for me. I have to find a new spot now. My suggestion to anyone is to go see for yourself. Watch how they prepare your...
Read moreI first went to this location on 9/1/21 and really enjoyed the food. I ordered the jerk chicken box for myself and jerk chicken nachos for my son. The cashier who took my order forgot to check jerk chicken nachos on my ticket, but no big deal. I just had to wait an additional ten minutes. I did witness an issue, but sent an email and my concerns were addressed.
I decided to go again on 9/24/21. I ordered the jerk chicken nachos, jerk chicken box, jerk wings w/ rice and peas and plantains, and cake. The total was $50.77. The cashier said the order would be ready in ten minutes. I checked on my order after fifteen minutes and it wasn’t ready. The cashier said he’d let me know when it was. I went back to my car to wait. That’s when an Echo stage employee came and told everyone we were on private property and had to move our vehicles across the street, which I did. Twenty more minutes passed. I told my son to check on the order again and it still wasn’t ready. Another twenty minutes and I started to lose patience. I go across the street and the cashier says. “Oh, they ran out of chicken wings, but they’re going to give you something else. They got everyone’s orders mixed up too. They had to cook more food, that’s why it’s taking so long.” I was shocked and thought it was unacceptable to replace my protein without asking. I went inside to get my food. The chicken wings and the quarter piece and leg in my jerk box was replaced with chicken breasts. I asked for a refund for the chicken wings which were for my son. I knew he wouldn’t want chicken breast. The woman said, “Didn’t you hear me make the announcement?” How would I hear her make an announcement when I was in my car across the street? But anyway, I was refunded. The food was okay this time around, nothing like my first visit. This business is very unorganized and I won’t patronize it again for a very long time, which is sad because I though I found a go-to place.
Also, while I was waiting to place my order, I heard an employee say they were out of Rasta pasta, salmon, oxtail, and cocoa bread. It’s really unfair for customers to drive out of their way to only discover they can’t order what they want. I asked, “The menu isn’t updated on social media?” and her reply was no.
Here are my suggestions:
Collect customers cell phone numbers as they place orders and sent a text when it’s ready.
Update social media accounts when a food item is no longer available for the day.
DO NOT replace what a customer orders with another item without asking!
Check inventory before opening for the day and stop taking orders when...
