Jefferson Memorial, DC Parking Lot A — Local services in Washington

Great place to park during events like cherry blossom festival as it is not easy to find street parking. Short walk to Jefferson Memorial and the tidal basin area. $2/hr, 3hr max. However, there's only one machine to pay for parking so there was a long line when we went there during cherry blossoms. You can also pay by phone with ParkMobile App, which is easier and faster with a small fee. I wish I had known before waiting in line for 15min. You don't see the sign about App payment option till you are standing in front of the machine! They should have signs all over the parking lot so people will know before they wait in line! This lot is closest to the mall, but when we visited DC this weekend (~10AM Saturday) it was already full with many cars driving around looking for a spot. We then went to lot B next door and there were plenty of spots. However, I will say when we got back to the car as the 3 hr limit was approaching, lot B seemed quite full as well. I'd assume being the closest that this lot always fills up first so it's not necessarily the best. For example today going to lot B first would have saved more time.
