In July My family visited the National Zoo. On previous visits we looked for the outdoor cats exhibit as my 3 year old granddaughter and my 5 year old had been asking about it. As we were walking up the small hill at the zoo's entrance I saw a sign pointing to the right toward a slight incline and path. All I could see is what looked to be a unused exhibit area with a bit of lite construction. As I walked towards it & followed the path to the left there were two interactive displays and the temporary cat exhibit in the back. It wasn't very big but it offered the cats a bit of shade and a small space to move around in. It doesn't give them much space to roam around in close to where we were standing. The area that is under construction looks to be bigger & more guest friendly. Until next time be kind to each other. #nationalzoo @yelpdc...

Lazy Lions Living Their Best Life It was so hot today, and the lions clearly agreed—every single one of them was lying flat under the sun, belly up, totally still and completely relaxed. They looked like oversized house cats taking the ultimate summer nap. It was kind of hilarious and absolutely adorable. Definitely a reminder that even kings of the jungle need their sunbathing and nap time!

I enjoyed the baby orangutan the most, I am looking forward to the giant dinosaurs around the park to be completed how ever my granddaughter is not! They are larger than life and very real looking :) . Busy busy in the am. Bathrooms could use a little cleaning mid day, especially with the crowds. Pack a lunch the concession stand was way too busy.

We weren't sure what to expect since the tigers and lions had contracted covid. It seems that while they had been sick, they were feeling better. There were two male lions in one area and two tigers is separate areas each. The serval cats and smaller cats didn't seem to be out. The trails to their area were closed.
