This store was a very special find on our 25th wedding anniversary. We spent the day in DC and on the way to the Metro saw some of the most beautiful dresses on display outside. We had to go in. The owner was fantastic. He was so helpful, kind, nice, and had such a beautiful soul. The selection was unbelievable. The place was packed full of beautiful clothing and such cute shoes/slippers. No two items were the same!!! There had to be over a thousand items in the store!!! All different!!!
You will find so many beautiful skirts, dresses, pants, scarves - you name it. I am a pasty white old lady and I am telling you, if I can find awesome amazing pieces that look good on me here, any skin tone can and will look stunning after a trip here. The prices were unbelievable. If we hadnāt spent the last 6+ hours on our feet (recall that Iām old) and needed to catch a train for the 1.5 hour trip home, I would have a new wardrobe.
Once I got my purchases home I discovered the skirt I bought was 100% silk - and was a multi-function piece. There are so many ways to wear this one piece. Dress, shirts, and skit - and reversible!! You could buy your entire beach getaway wardrobe here and pack it all in your carryon!!
The jewelry case just about sent me over the edge. Turquoise, lapis, and old red coral!!!! Handmade! And so much more.
I so need to go back there again. I need to check out the rugs. These arenāt your typical rugs. These are works of art.
Please be sure to stop in and take a look. You will be very happy you did.
Note to the owner: you are an amazing man. Thank you for sharing your stories with us....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was shopping for a high end Indian wedding and where I live, there is no Indian couture. Rather than shipping expensive, ill fitting things to the middle of the Pacific, I threw a Hail Mary and bet that I could find what I needed if I shopped around the DC/moco area on a one day/night stay on my way the Europe. I needed to only visit one store. I called VJ at India Art & Craft a few weeks before i visited - he was so helpful just even on the phone and gave me his number to be i touch. Iād told him my size and the colors I was looking for - he was sure Iād find what I wanted and could even tailor the same day. I went to one other store out in the burbs but then said, no we need to go to VJ. He and Uncle were waiting for us at the door, so welcoming. I literally pointed to the first lehenga hanging that i saw (deep purple with embroidered cranes and other birds and flora) and said āthat one.ā It was perfect, everything Iād dreamed of - even the bride enthusiastically approved (over text). I then blacked out and bought every jewel in the place - necklace, earrings, headpiece. It was all so gorgeous and reasonably priced. This place is a gem - donāt waste time looking anywhere else for your high end...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLike many other reviewers have shared, I had an overwhelmingly positive and easy experience shopping at India Art & Craft.
I initially reached out via text with some general questions ahead of my visit regarding appropriate wedding guest attire, and the responses I received were always timely and thorough. We coordinated an informal appointment, and I was warmly greeted by a team of two gentlemen that were eager to help.
One gentleman presented me with a variety of options (for attire, shoes, tailoring options, and jewelry) at different price points so that I could be mindful of my budget. He patiently listened to my preferences, gave me feedback, and did not try to push me to spend more money than I was comfortable with. The first (and only!) lehenga I tried on ending up being a perfect fit for my size and taste. I truly appreciated that I never felt rushed during my visit. I was also allowed to pick a bindi from a variety of colorful, ornate options for no additional charge!
Thank you to the owners of India Art & Craft for guiding me through this experience. I am very excited to wear the garment and will definitely refer others...
