Elevation Burger — Restaurant in Washington

Honestly shocked at the bad service here. I normally don’t even care, I know service workers have hard jobs. But this was different! Sign on the door said it closed at 5:30pm, we came in for a snack at 4:45pm, so plenty of time, not even obnoxiously late. They were CLEARLY trying to close up, mopping the floors, putting away condiments, said the grill was off so we could only get fries. Whatever, not a big deal, we just got fries and sat at one of the only tables they hadn’t blocked off. We were going to leave but it started pouring rain so we stuck around for a bit because it was only 5:10pm and they literally KICKED US OUT! Into the pouring rain!! With two young kids!! absolutely insane. My 3yo son was crying that he didn’t want to go outside in the torrential rain and they were like “too bad, we’re closing” even though it was 20 minutes early!!! We weren’t the only family in there, they kicked us all out! I’m just like…shocked anyone would treat...

While my family enjoyed their visit at the Smithsonian Zoo throughout the park. Unfortunately our experience at the elevation burger restaurant was bad. As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by a rude lady saying “we only have French fries, chicken tenders” and we close in 30 min, y’all came on the wrong day “. Not sure why that was said, perhaps because it was a rainy day? The time was 4:00 PM. It seemed like she was the manager with very poor customer service skills. We looked around a very empty restaurant with only one family eating as if they were a burden to the manager. As we exited, the sign on the door indicated the restaurant actually closed at 5:30 pm. This is such a beautiful zoo and our experience was great until we visited elevation burger. I would recommend reevaluating management at this location, the other staff seemed nice. However, poor management equals...

We ordered a total of 4 burgers - 1 kids cheese burger, 2 BBQ bacon, and an elevation burger. Flavors were good but all 4 were dry and over cooked. Grass fed beef should never be cooked as much as these were. The low fat content makes them easier to over cook and dry out on top of being over cooked, they tasted like they had been precooked and sat...probably added to the dryness. The price would have been fine if there was any quality control on the cook.

Service was average and what would be expected...not bad, not good, not memorable. Just like any national fast food burger place... McDonald's , BK, etc.
