Edit: went to the market today, discovered a second farmer set up which was a blessing to see but also saw this which was disturbing.. Miller's Farms had red peppers, I attached a photo of the sticker saying "PRODUCT OF CANADA" when I asked my cashier she so readily assured me that every thing was grown right here in Maryland which I'm sure is a lie they probably tell them to tell! But now that I've seen that, I noticed everything they sell is giving supermarket vibes, only they marking everything up more than the market! 🤦🏽♀️
Should definitely be called a flea market.. It's only one farm present, Miller's Farms and they always sell out early so they leave early if you arrive late you miss out!
If you're looking for a decent selection of FARMERS Eastern market is the better option!
As far as prepared food.. I used to always support Koite Grill Senegalese food truck but recently I made a revelation.. Their food truck is so incredibly overpriced and overrated! I can sit down comfortably and eat somewhere, and pay less! I went to Silver Diner and got crab and lobster pasta and paid less than I do when I go to this truck.. It's definitely not worth what you get!
A lot of the vendors are trying to hustle you, but a lot of them are really affordable like the ones selling soaps and...
Read moreOn Thursdays and Fridays, one of the city's longest-standing farmers/flea markets sets up in the RFK Stadium parking lot just off of Benning Road NE. It's an experience generations of Washingtonians know well. Here's why you should visit:
Shopping: It's more a flea market than a farmers market. Most of the stands sell leather goods, household supplies, hats, etc. There are several produce stands and one where you can buy fresh corn, watermelon, etc.
Food: On Saturdays, a smoothie truck often sets up shop as well as Koite Grill, a beloved Senegalese restaurant. Follow the smoke to the grill and order a $15 platter of three chicken kebabs, jollof rice and grilled onions. It's delicious!
Parking: Since it's in a parking lot, you can always find free parking right by he market.
Restrooms are nearby at The Fields of RFK as well as a large playground, fields and access to Kingman Island, a man-made park now a nature preserve...
Read moreWent here several Saturdays and not only is Millers Farm here, there's food vendors and there's a flea market with lots of vendors selling all sorts of items like jewelry, clothing, shoes, housewares, CDs, record, albums, and appliances, and vintage items. I was looking for Steel Wool Pads and found a large box Brillo pads for $1.00! These pads are large too! I also found a cake pan I was looking for. You never know what you will find here! So put on your walking shoes and head over to the Stadium parking lot at Benning Road and Oklahoma Ave. NE. They are there 7:00 AM. The only down side is that sometimes they are located in another lot not far from Eastern High School, so if you don't see them on Benning Road, head to...
