First, let’s start with the statement: “this place is such a gem!” Sycamore & Oak has an open concept with upstairs and downstairs seating (and standing options) which is visually very appealing. Additionally, there is a really nice jungle gym for the kiddos. A great added bonus is the fact that there are quite a bit of free community focused events, which includes (great) live music. Another added bonus about this place is it has a good amount of black owned establishments. My disclaimer is, for these establishments, is that I haven’t eaten at any of the venues as of yet. However, the experience here without food or drinks has been grand via their Jazz at the Heights series. I will definitely be back!

A family-owned restaurant that makes noteworthy crab fries, an Ethiopian cafe, a clothing store that spreads love, a luxury spa, Sycamore & Oak is more than a dozen Black-owned local businesses under one roof. It’s a community passionate about people, culture, empowerment, transformation- the real D.C. Gathering neighbors in Congress Heights, there’s line dancing lessons on Tuesdays, karaoke Wednesday evenings, and a playground and fitness space. With two floors of open seating, it’s a place open Tuesday through Sunday for all to connect, work, create, and dream.

We went for Brunch and Basketball. I have a hard time deciding how many stars to give because the atmosphere was great. The place was beautiful. Not many of the shops were open. The event was fun but not super packed. The Mimosa staff was awesome! but They ran out of champagne for mimosas. You also had to walk upstairs to stand in line for the buffet which was constantly running out of food and there was not enough chairs upstairs near the food so there was lots of tables open downstairs. But you would have to walk up one set of stairs and down another set of stairs to get food. But there would be no guarantee that food was even available once you got upstairs to the buffet line. I paid $100 and something dollars for the brunch and a game ticket and I only ate two little squares of a waffle, a handful of bacon and some sausage. They didn't even have eggs when I was in line the first time.. a while later I had heard there was eggs. I went back and the eggs were already gone by the time I walked back. If they set the food up downstairs, people wouldn't have to wait as long and there's much more seating downstairs. They also don't have any accessible way to get upstairs from what I saw. Unless I'm mistaken, there was not an elevator It doesn't make sense to have it upstairs.

I like the space itself and I think it's a great concept but I will never spend that much money to go to a brunch there again. I will just go to brunch somewhere and then go to a basketball game and...

THE BEST!! Absolutely Outstanding Experience!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sycamore and Oak! A huge thank you to Rob and Mike for going above and beyond to ensure our DC Startup and Tech Week conference was an absolute success.

We hosted over 150 guests, and the venue completely exceeded our expectations. Many attendees had never explored this part of the city before, and they were absolutely blown away by the space. The ambiance was incredible, and it provided the perfect backdrop for our event.

The service was truly exceptional - world-class in every way. Our server was so attentive, checking in on us multiple times throughout the event to make sure everything was running smoothly. She even thoughtfully set aside food for us hosts, which was such a considerate touch when we were busy managing the conference.

The catering by Dionne was phenomenal - our guests raved about the food! Between the stunning venue, the impeccable service, and the delicious food, this event was everything we hoped for and more.

If you're looking for an event space in DC, look no further than Sycamore and Oak. Rob, Mike, and the entire team made our event truly...

I love this place. I had my Pinning Ceremony here for my Hospitality workforce training. I also got to attend a Woman’s campaign/movement right before. We got to watch 2 Go-Go bands play. I got to meet with Muriel Bowser face to face, and ask her a major question about the District. I even got to speak with both Women Chief of Police to ask about the rising crime in the District. Now known as Sycamore & Oak, has done a great job with weeding out the old St. Elizabeth’s name. The vibe was giving a outdoor cozy home feeling, almost as being on a huge outdoor wooden deck. Gatherings, music, and friends and family.

Also, they do Karaoke EVERY Wednesday from 6-9pm. They really changed the look of this whole place, and next to it is the Woman’s...
