I was clear my flight had been bumped up to an hour earlier time by the airline after my original flight got cancelled, so I was in a huge hurry. He first almost got into an accident leaving the parking garage because he stopped at the light in the middle of the 2 exit lanes. With no turn signal on, one car pulled up to the right and another to the left because they didn’t know what he was doing. I had to point out to him that we were going to get roadsided by one car or the other if he planned to turn! (There was no option for going forward!). He seemed oblivious and turned his blinker on. I asked him to steer a little left so the other car was clear not to hit us. Then he piddled and poked and stalled driving soooooooo slowly it felt passive aggressive rather than safe driving. He kept so much distance during traffic lights and rush hour stop and go that no fewer than 30 cars got in front of us, delaying us further, until I finally asked him to be safe but to STOP letting everyone in front of us. He mumbled some excuse about a wreck in front of us, blowing off and ignoring what I was asking for. Then Waze gave me other routes and he kept taking the longest one and staying in the longest lines of traffic entering the freeway, again until I said something. His avoiding tolls, I get. But there were non-tolls routes he could have taken that 3 gps apps told me would get us there faster. I had said nothing for most of the drive after the garage incident, until about 30 minutes into the drive. He acted oblivious. Was playing solitaire on his phone and missing when traffic started moving again, delaying us further. I finally stopped trying and just shut up and gave up, resigned to possibly missing my flight. I was soooooo frustrated and angry and felt helpless and was gonna not be kind if I said anything more. And I know it’s legal in DC, and it could have come from a previous passenger or another car nearby, but the weed smell was strong. As dull and dense as he acted, it’s worth mentioning that a drug test might be in order to make sure. I’m sure he’s a nice enough guy and I don’t want him to lose his job, but if he doesn’t get better or if there are other complaints, he needs to go! I travel to DC frequently, and I’ll be tempted to find another ride in the future rather than risk getting him again. He didn’t even ask if I wanted to tip. He knew how upset I was. Seriously, worst cab ride ever, and I travel all over the US. Good luck and I hope he...
Read morePlease read as many reviews on this company as possible, alot of the bad but TRUE reviews are pushed down the list. I would give a zero rating if it were possible but 1 star is what I'll have to settle for. As a frequent customer, I called Yellow Cab Company today for a family member and when the driver arrived to pick him ( Afro American ) up, the driver questioned him about his method of paying. I spoke to the driver of cab J372 , and notified him I would be paying by bank card and the driver refuted the ride. I let the driver know that I was a faithful customer that most of the drivers were familiar with as well as the the company itself, I even welcomed him to call dispatch to verify me and he still refused to take my family member. I then informed the driverby refusing to pick up my family member with no basis for the refusal, was an illegal act in the District of Columbia and the driver didn't have his taxi cab ID displayed by law. While most of the dispatchers of the company keep everything running smoothly, the supervisors on the other hand are unprofessional to say the least and report ing the matter goes on deaf ears. I will still use the photos we captured of this particular drivers cab and will send emails out about the event that took place to the cab commission, DC Yellow Cab and Mayor Bowser's office in reference to this matter anyway. My advice is to get the contact information of a good driver and schedule pickups with them directly, that is the ONLY reason I still ride with Yellow Cab Company. Many of the cab companies that were competitors of D.C Yellow Cab Company no longer exist and when you call their numbers, customers are routed back to...
Read moreThe driver was great. But I said twice, to two different dispatchers there, one of them when I first booked a ride, that I was on the alley side of the address — i. e., not at the front of the house at 1152 4th Street NE, but at the back of it in an unnamed alley because that's where my Airbnb is located. I eventually had to walk around to the front because that's where the driver was. The first dispatcher I told about being in the alley apparently didn't put it in the notes, according to the second one, so the message never got to the driver.
I need a ride to the airport tomorrow and I'm not going to walk around to the front with all my luggage like I had to tonight. How can I make this work better? I chose to use a cab rather than a ride-sharing service because I'd be able to talk to a live person, plus I like to support cab companies. I even called about this yesterday and the dispatcher with whom I spoke said it would be fine if I told the dispatcher with whom I spoke today that the driver needed to come to the alley. It wasn't OK, and I don't know what I'm going to about getting to the airport tomorrow with my luggage.
This was very disappointing. I viewed it as a trial run and it didn't work out very well.
It's not my fault that the alley doesn't have a name! But I explained quite clearly where I'd be and what I said was...
