I brought in my PC expecting a real fix and an upgrade. I was told I’d be getting a 1TB SSD, with my files backed up and Windows reinstalled. I paid $160 for that. What really happened? The guy didn’t install any new hardware — I checked. My original SSD is still in the machine. He just wiped Windows and reinstalled it, and called it a day. When I asked him about it, he denied everything. No apology. No refund. No service. This is either incompetence or straight-up dishonesty. Either way, don’t trust your computer or money to this shop. I’ve filed a complaint with the CT Department of Consumer Protection. Others should do the same if this has happened to them. (Edit) I originally left this review after being misled, and now I’m updating it to include a screenshot with details of what actually took place so others can make an informed decision. I brought my PC in expecting a fix and an upgrade. I was told I’d receive a 1TB SSD, my data would be backed up, and Windows reinstalled. The original quote was $180 ($80 for the SSD and $100 for labor). What actually happened? 🔹 No SSD was installed — I checked myself. 🔹 He simply wiped and reinstalled Windows on my existing drive and gave it back. 🔹 When I questioned him, he initially denied everything, became defensive, and refused a refund. Only after I left a public review did I receive a text (screenshot included) where he apologized and said he’d refund me, and then asked me to take the review down. I was also told over the phone (which I recorded) that if I left the computer any longer, the charge would increase to $300–400, even though he had originally quoted me $180. The business response on Google says I was quoted $150 with no SSD included and that I was refunded voluntarily I was only refunded after he saw the review I made. That is completely inaccurate, and I have the text and phone call to prove it. This experience left me feeling deceived. It’s unfortunate because I really tried to give this local shop a shot, but I hope others see this and tread carefully. And what worries me is if I was a person who was easily deceived or didn’t know HOW to leave a google review I would NOT have gotten my money back.

Wouldn't recommend the place. I brought my gaming laptop in to get fixed. At first he said the power cable was the problem, but it wasn't. He called said that a chip on the motherboard was fried and I would need a new one. Fast forward a couple months when I finally got the money, he ordered the new motherboard and he called and said it was ready to be picked up. When I got it back it seemed fine at first other than the long boot time, but I said whatever that's not a big deal. As soon as I tried to play a game that's when everything went downhill and the problems started. I was able to play the game for maybe a minute or so, before it froze then blue screened. Patiently waiting for it to boot back up, it never did it just looped on the windows screen and eventually went to the advanced startup menu and I had to use a restore point to get back into the computer. I tried installing the drivers for the graphics card again, since the restore point removed all that stuff and it blue screen again, and I had to repeat the same process. I eventually got the drivers installed, only to find out that it wasn't the same graphics card that was in my laptop when I brought it to him it was a 950M and I had a 960M, he also replaced my hard drive for some reason, and put a 500 GB hard drive in when I had a 1TB drive. After I finally got the drivers installed, I figured everything would be good and it would finally work. Nope complete opposite doesn't work at all. I tried pretty much everything I could think of to get it to work. I figured maybe I'll try to factory restore the computer, and that wouldn't even work because the windows files were corrupted.

I gave him a call to tell him everything that happened and that the computer doesn't work correctly, and he told me there was nothing he could do other than reinstalling windows.....

I came to the repair shop for a bad charging port. He used a multimeter incorrectly and convinced myself the issue was a bad charge cable. I paid 80 dollars after he held the laptop for a few days. I don't know if he did any more tests. The charging cables were another 80 dollars on Amazon and I had to go through three before I was sure the issue wasn't the cables. The owner didn't answer back my text when I let him know my pc was still having problems.

This owner also tried to sell me services that I've learned aren't helpful or necessary while he was charging me so much for doing nothing. This whole thing set me back months and sure enough when I went to another business, the issue was a bad charging port.

I can't say for sure it was deliberate scamming but this person didn't know how to use a multimeter, telling me the readings need to be completely exact to the advised reading. He decided my charge cable was broken for a .2 difference between it and the power need. Any manual or DIY video from people and businesses mention that there's always a loose variance of readings because the current isn't going to be...
