It's a great dog park, it has a water fountain for our dogs to drink, there is also a separate but still attached area for smaller dogs only. Our dog gets along with almost all of the other dogs that are brought to play and have fun on a regular basis with our dog. I also love the location. As it's basically a hop, skip & jump from our house to get there. I would've given a 5 star review, but an incident occurred the other day.. Where 2 men had their small dogs in the large open area for bigger dogs.. And our dog is a friendly, well trained, alpha female (German Shepherd). She loves to make friends, they got into it a little bit. My husband didn't want to make a scene when the men told my husband to get his dog, she didn't bite or nip them. It was the opposite, they wanted to try to get our larger pet to "bow down' which she did not. Instead, my husband took her to the small pet cage and stayed with her, but just for a few mins.. As she couldn't run in there.. Not enough space (she's a GSD), so he packed her up and left. I really don't think it's fair for our dog and others who have larger dogs to be basically punished.. having to go to the 'small dog' area to play. So you've got some grown adults breaking the parks rules. By letting their little dogs enjoy the large space, but expect the big dogs to go to the small area or for us big dog owners to keep our dogs under control, when the small ones try to act big and bad if not more. Otherwise, I really have nothing else to complain about. They've added training equipment as well.. sort of like a mini playground & now they are adding a covered shelter to protect from the snow for the winter & rain for other months which is perfect. Would be even more perfect if it was a heated shelter or enclosed at least.. Maybe where the heater has to be manually turned on with a timer when someone enters to use it . And at night lock it after the park closes? Just an idea. Update After re-reading what I originally wrote in my review, I'm going to give you 5 stars. It's not like you can control others who break the park rules. So that's not your fault. I was just upset over it. This dog...
Read moreLove this place. Humans are typically more friendly here compared to Weston park. It depends how you feel, if you want company while your dogs play this is a good place. If you want to be solitary, walk laps and keep to self, Weston is better.
However, Everytime I go, I am picking up 10-15 pounds of (others) doggy doo. I get it, sometimes it's hard to find with leaves laying everywhere....but lately it seems as though a majority of people are just leaving it lay. If I can't find my dogs poo, I go pick up someone elses. I sure hope we don't lose this great place due to...
Read moreNew dog park near Wausau downtown. Small-to-medium sized. Separate small dog enclosure. Looks like it has water spigots but they weren't usable yet. Has dog agility equipment although they used wood chips which isn't ideal on their paws. Great location since it's right by Oak Island. Overall a great addition...
