The Mint Cafe — Restaurant in Wausau

I enjoyed a lovely lunch with my family at The Mint while shopping. It's an adorable little cafe nestled in downtown Wausau, full of midwestern character, historical charm, and fabulous aromas. I'm looking forward to eating there more often when we visit Wausau in the future! 😁

I had the Grilled Pesto Herb Chicken Sandwich with sautéed mushrooms, and it was so juicy and flavorful, just absolutely fabulous! 👌 My oldest daughter had the Crispy Cheese Ravioli with Marinara, and loved it! My youngest daughter had the Grilled Chicken Breast Meal with Creamy Chicken soup, and said her chicken breast was cooked so perfect and juicy, that it's the kind that makes you double-check to make sure it's fully cooked, and of course it was. My daughter and I sat outside. It was warm, but we wanted to enjoy the summer eating outside. No one paid attention to us despite there being people at over half the tables. We stood up and went inside and got a table, but explained we wanted to sit outside. She said sit anywhere. We did and no one came with menus or drinks. I went back in and got menus. The hostess still didn't send a server with drinks (two older servers working the small outdoor seating area). The servers were over heated and had no energy. They were not attentive and barely friendly. We had burgers- they were good and fries were good...coleslaw was yummy, but better if it had 90% less dressing. Nothing was amazing. We chose The Mint Cafe for our wedding caterer and we could not be happier with how things went! The tasting we attended was more like a multi-course meal, allowing us to try everything on the catering menu and make an informed decision. We booked them right then and there, chose our options and opted for a plated presentation based on the small space that our reception was being held in. They delivered and then some. The waitstaff was fantastic and extremely efficient, Julie was easy to get ahold of, and they were present and fantastic throughout the entire evening.
