It was my first time at this location but I was excited to go back to my monthly full body deep tissue massage sessions after a long, stressful 2 months of moving cross country. Unfortunately, after 2 years of membership, going through plenty massage therapists with different styles and techniques, I am well informed enough to confidently say this was by far the worst experience as a hand and stone client (all other experiences being really good to amazing). Andy was rough when positioning the foot pillow, and wrapping the sheets properly when taking my legs and arms out. I specifically asked him to spend the majority of the time on my upper back which he didn't. I began face up (a first) and within the first touch I could tell he either didn't want to be doing the massage or just didn't know what he was doing. 5 minutes in and I even began questioning if he was licensed (obv he must be since this is a proper establishment but it was that bad). He used basic circular kneading all throughout and spent an unnecessary amount of time overly squeezing my hegu points between my thumbs and index fingers. He pressed down on my chest, what's usually done at the end of the front side session and is generally the most relaxing, hard and without tact. Same thing with the back side. Did not take the time to locate the knots and work thru them. Finished the session with dropping the bed all the way down, grabbing my lower back side and applying his full body pressure up and down my back side so rough that even the bed was shaking and creaking. Finished me off with a few tactless taps and said session is over, offered me a cup of water, gave it to me once I got dressed and bid me farewell as if he was a clerk at a supermarket. Overall, I was trying to be open minded throughout the session but as I walked out I realized that for the first time I left the same exact way as I walked in, if not worse (usually I'm super relaxed post massage). I debated telling the front desk but opted out with just saying "it was good" since I already made up my mind I would never return. But it was such a weird, unpleasant experience that it has led me to this review. It may be he's new or because I made the appointment that same day and I was his last client maybe he just wanted to go home. Either way you're a massage therapist, a healer of sorts, treat your customers the same whether it's a scheduled appointment or last minute booking. First impressions matter and I'm sure there are other great therapists at this location but because of Andy I rather drive a little further and try a different...
Read moreThe Hand & Stone Massage & Facial Spa is one the largest and most successful chain of franchised massage and facial spas in the United States. Founded in 2004 by John Marco, the spa has over 500 locations in the USA & Canada, and offers a diverse multitude of massage services ranging from “Swedish Massage”, “Deep Tissue Massage”, and “Hot Stone Massage” in a very relaxed and comfortable environment.
In March of 2025, my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Hand & Stone Massage & Facial Spa for over first time. We specifically went to the location based in Wayne, New Jersey. I brought and treated my wife and myself for a 1 hour “Swedish Massage” service to celebrate our Happy Seven Year Honeymoon Anniversary!!! From beginning to end, we enjoyed every moment of the wonderful care and service that we received from this amazing spa!!!
Both my wife and I were warmly welcomed and politely treated by the front desk attendant that helped checked us in for our appointment. The attendant was very cordial and did a great job on detailing the various services and packages offered by the spa.
We were also impressed by the spa’s extraordinarily clean environment, tranquil settings, and enjoyed listening to the soft melody music while waiting in the spa’s front area lounge.
Last but certainly not least, both my wife and I absolutely loved the “Swedish Massage” that we received. I found that Mickey T, my massage therapist was absolutely perfect!!! She did a superb job on employing techniques that relieved tension in my upper back and neck, alleviated my muscle ache, and improved blood circulation. Thanks to Mickey, I felt completely rejuvenated and pain free after my session. My wife’s sentiments with her massage therapist echo my own, because she too enjoyed her Swedish massage, and felt that her body was completely recharged and free of all body aches.
We’d both love to thank Hand & Stone Massage & Facial Spa for their outstanding care and service and highly recommended that everyone take a moment to visit and treat themselves to a great massage in a very relaxed and...
Read moreI’ve had massages & facials other places. This particular establishment is by far the worst! I feel like if the owners really cared about their business they should be there. Especially in this day & age. People that work there don’t seem to know what they’re doing. As far as my service… well let’s just say being nice doesn’t cut the mustard! I had a facial…I was prodded on my nose for blackheads?? Then slathered with lotion, then more lotion then wiped then more lotion!! Then my arms were given a quick 30 second massage. Then back to more lotion!! I could have slathered my face with lotion at home!! It just wasn’t relaxing. I expected a little more massage on my face, head, neck. Less on the lotions!! It was so much that when I left my eyes started to tear and then burn from the lotion dripping into my eyes! I couldn’t see while driving!! Esthetician was nice but talkative and I couldn’t understand a word she was saying… sorry but she spoke broken English! I tried but really couldn’t. Time?? 50 min?? Not!! I had a facial about 3 months ago it was so so awesome I started to doze off. This place was good years ago not sure if new owners but either way they better get their act together or they will not have a business anymore! I’m not even going to go into the real deal here. Let them figure out what they need to do to get this place up to standards of what it should be!! I...
