Lake Junaluska Playground — Attraction in Waynesville

Brought my kids by the playground after a lap around the lake and the playground gate had a sign posted it was closed from 08:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. for a private event. Went home for nap time and my kids woke up wanting to check the playground out. Came back out around 03:45 p.m. and some event rep that was posted at the gate said sorry, but not open to the public until 5. Then acted weird when I pointed out the sign right in front of them that showed 0800 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. She made a call on her radio and then told us the sign was a misprint and we wouldn't be able to enter. Whole situation was dumb and upsetting for the kids as I carried them back to the car crying and asking why we couldn't play on the fun looking slide.

Whoever is coordinating the private groups at the playground please take the minimum effort to post the correct signage to keep situations like this from happening to families trying to utilize the...

Smaller park but very clean, fun friendly and family oriented! Has tennis courts, carpet golf, volley ball court on upper side of the playing field. Also has a big parking lot and wheelchair accessible. Through the summer you can rent paddle boats as well as canoes and visit the pool. Lake Junaluska is absolutely beautiful! It's definitely a nice place to go escape and find inspiration.

Only con at this point is the amount of bugs. Bring bug spray for your children, otherwise carry a bottle of calamine. I got out of my car and was only out for a minute with 4 bites on my legs.

Then I went to the lake another day in sweat pants and a jacket as to avoid more bug bites. That's just how...
