Well, this, was my first visit to "Crepe & Custard". This is a neat lake side food source. I'm not calling it a restaurant, but a nice cozy eatery. There are both inside and outside tables. The outside is with a covered porch with views of Lake Junaluska. There are about equal sitting and tables for either option. It was a clean and orderly place with an attentive friendly staff. I ordered a small chocolate ice cream cup with cherries on top. While it was very tasty and refreshing, I did not know what to expect, was it "custard" or ice cream, no one informed me, and neither nor did I ask since I had gone to my car to enjoy it. And did not go back inside to ask. Yet it was great. The downside was the cost and the size. It was $5.35, then tax, and tip, for what amounted to one scoop, it was pricey, in my opinion. But this seems to be the trend, since yesterday I had a strawberry milkshake at an ice cream shop in Lake Lure that was also in the same price range. I would still recommend visiting Crepes and Custard. They are open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If this review has helped you, please give it a like. God bless your day.

Lakeshore Love in every bite! This recent addition to the beautiful shoreline of Lake Junaluska is worthy of the view. Simple, creative and always different and ever-changing with the seasons and weather here in Western North Carolina. And of course I'm talking about the Crepes! LOL. The menu is filled with sweet and savory items that I found would be great for kids and adults as well. I found the Bacon, Egg & Cheese crepe perfect, and loved the "Gluten free" option. Also, pet friendly with dining space on the porch. And, you can simply enjoy watching the lake and wildlife as you enjoy your meal or get it to go. And, before or after a meal you can walk around the lake, or enjoy kayak rentals and paddle boards and more. Enjoy! *PS- Just a short walk- Don't forget to visit the hidden forrest nearby at the end of Stuart Circle- A real "Planet Avatar" of trees and plants, many labeled for the botanist and kids at heart.

First time to eat here. We walked from the public access boat ramp parking area. A nice 10 minute walk. It took us longer because we stopped a lot for photos and just enjoying the area. I enjoyed the days special. Philly chicken in a crepe. Only thing that was bothersome was we sat too close to the trash can and had to deal with flies. The food was good. Another place that you are asked to leave a tip before you experience your meal, however they also have an option for leaving a cash tip after if you prefer, which I would of done had I known. Walked along the lake afterwards. Very pleasant day and experience. Felt as if they worked at doing things right.

The place is super cute, and authentic, no doubt about it, but I have few remarks, and recommendations to make. So the first time we walked around the lake, we felt a little hungry, and we saw the place, and decided to give them a try, as we bought one sweet crepe, for our son, with Nutella, some weeping cream, some fruits etc. The crepe was nice, fresh, hot, and delicious, the way it should be, so this is how we decided to give it another try, especially after another day hiking around the mountains, and we did. The second time though, wasn’t the same experience, and this is how we got disappointed. We wanted to try some salty crepes this time, but the nice young girl told us that something is broken, and they don’t offer crepes for lunch, I asked if they offer the sweet ones, and she said yes, we do, so we ordered again the one with the Nutella, the cream, fruits, and the one for my son was, nothing but Nutella. Before we realized, the girl was outside already with the plates, and it felt so weird, given that we are big fans of crepes as we’re originally from Europe, but anyway. We know perfectly that it takes time to cook them in the special stovetop, but the girl was out with them for less then two minutes, that was immediate red flag for us, and it turned to be exactly that! The crepes were cold, chewy like rubber, not soft, not freshly made, you can tell from the very first bite.

This is not how you do business! The girl told us that they don’t have salty crepes, because sometimes was broken, but confirmed that they offer the sweet ones. In my opinion, in cases like this, just close the store, and go home, don’t scam people, and take advantage of them, not to mention that it was Sunday, and the business hours were clearly showing that they should be closed by 4:00pm, and we were inside the place at about 3:30-3:40, and after we spent at least 30-40 mins outside, they stayed open, then we walked around the lake for 2.5 miles, and on our way back, the place was still open, what the heck, just close and stop ripping people off. We are in the area and looking to purchase a home there, and definitely are not looking forward to visit this place again, because what happened is insulting and disappointing, at the same time it’s so sad, because the place is super cute, on the lake, and it has so much potential! Also I think the patio needs some really nice...

Abysmal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First time in and only customers in the establishment. Service: Upon entering it was difficult to get one staff person (brunette) to break away from her phone (she was sending a message - we could see her screen - screen was filthy) to help us place an order, explain the kiosk ordering process or answer other questions. When we asked for help, said woman was visibly irritated. After placing our order, no further direction was given as to where the coffee was, etc. Food: All crepes ordered were refrigerator cold in the center with one egg having uncooked albumen. When questioned about the proper temperature the response was that the crepes should be warm all the way through and it was hinted that our choice to get add ins caused the issue (crepe was too thick to warm sufficiently). Atmosphere: 3 stars b/c of the view of the lake. 1 star for restaurant state with every table in need of wiping down/cleaning to get a clean eating surface. We cleaned our table ourselves; luckily we had Clorox wipes. Will not be back, EVER!! Disgusting establishment and such a shame compared to its beautiful...
