Quaint and cozy, this theater has been around age wise. Benches are worn and some uncomfortable for a 2 hour presentation. Bathrooms are small and lack privacy. But, that being said the stage is fantastic! This community theater is all volunteer and each person involved with the play at the time puts their time and talents into the appearance of the set for the production. They will sweep you away into a time and place of their lives that will leave you hungry for more! Excellent time spent!
3/16/2022 Well, it's been awhile since I've posted about our "quaint" community theatre. Since then I've been able to join the Board and am now in charge of Props and Costumes. I love playing with all the props and since I also love organizing, well, let's just say I'm in my wheelhouse! I'm also responsible for the volunteering opportunities which I do love as well. It's such a joy to introduce people to the workings of what else goes on in the theatre besides on the stage. It's been a fun 4 years with this group!
2/4/2023 Opening night of Baskerville was wonderful! Darla Robinson caught the vision on this comedic story of Sherlock and Watson and turned it into a sheer joy to watch! She and her assistant director, Jordyn Mahar, cast this party with the utmost care and they play their roles perfectly! Costumes changes galore between 3 actors playing 40...
Read moreWhat an absolute treasure is the Theatre Off The Square! No question mark, just truth. My friend and I went tonight for It's A Wonderful Life and were (once again) blown away by the charm and sheer talent gracing the stage. Our first TOTS experience was for The Addams Family and we knew then that we had started a tradition we will continue for years to come. Tonight truly cemented that for us both. I've never witnessed a radio play production and the voice acting (and noise/ effect making) was INSANE. Close your eyes and you could see the movie cast. Oh but keep your eyes WIDE open because there is nothing I've ever experienced quite like watching an incredibly gifted cast LITERALLY switch multiple hats and affectations to play completely different parts. Unreal. We couldn't stop laughing (yes, that was us) and there were tears (you can't prove anything). It was also exciting to see familiar faces and feel like we were watching old (or soon to be new) friends just making that magic happen. We will be back (yes, that's a threat) (but the fun kind) and are already looking forward to the next TOTS night we plan. Cheers, y'all and thank you so much for being you! 💚 (Everyone reading this should purchase tickets now for every upcoming show and we'll...
Read moreDecent run theatre that puts on shows regularly which is a great thing for community. However some people involved have big ego issues and there is clear favoritism. I wish they did a better job being more inclusive as some directors seem to shut certain people out and they don't seem to respect differencs in opinion. That being said while I had some issues with certain members there are also great people involved as well and the good ones certainly make up for the bad. It's a small theater so there's not much room for large scale productions but there is a lot of talent and they do a good job utilizing what little space they have. It makes room for more intimate productions which is nice for both the actors and the audience. For a small town community it's really not bad and considering some surrounding areas don't have a community theater at all, it's good that Weatherford has this outlet. It's also a great outlet for kids as they have an annual kids show and a children's summer camp. Perhaps the community would benefit from a...
