I really wanted to like this place and have given it multiple tries, but it's just not it. There are many better places in Milwaukee for conducting business of the collectible and TCG variety. Most of the staff doesn't seem to know what's going on; the inexperience and unprofessionalism is glaring.
I attempted to trade in a card I opened from a pack I bought from them 15 minutes earlier, only to be denied because they thought it was fake. It's ok to err on the side of caution, but they don't even know how to properly check a card for authenticity. Imperial Trading Cards is your name for crying out loud, know your industry!
I let that interaction slide and took the card to another shop without issue- but then something else happened on another interaction. I called looking for a single card, and the store attendant forgot they put me on hold and left me to radio silence for 45 minutes. When I hung up and dialed back, the same attendant completely forgot about our interaction and needed me to tell them again what I was looking for. Mind you this was the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday, when no events or heavy traffic were posing as obstacles.
Do better guys, cmon there's a dozen shops just like you in the city- get your selves together if you want to be...
Read moreIt's always a pleasure to deal with the 2 or 3 Imperial staff members I've been fortunate enough to meet & then experience the utmost courteous & professional customer service from, during my dozen or so visits over the past 1yr+! That said, I'd like to recognize one gentleman in particular who's routinely met & then exceeded any & all expectations a patron could realistically have regarding his unwavering commitment to providing excellent customer service! However, with regret & a bit of embarrassment, I must admit that I don't know his name so instead I'll have to describe him. I do apologize. It's the same young man who happens to be Black & actually helped me last night, which was the night of 07/28/2022 at 6:30pm. I personally believe that at a time when interactions between individuals can far too often be characterized as inconsiderate, downright nasty & at times even criminal in nature, it's very important that we recognize the HUMAN BEINGS who do infact possess the actual qualities necessary that...
Read moreImperial Trading Card is a deceptive place. On the surface, it's just a locally owned shop for people to buy and sell cards. In practice, however, it's a place to hang out, meet some great people with similar interests, and even pick up some new things you never knew existed. The staff is always friendly and attentive to any and all needs, exuding patience and professionalism while still keeping a fun atmosphere. Even if trading cards are not your thing, Imperial offers board games, places to play video games, a free to play pinball machine, tables to run a TTRPG, and an experience that pulls you away from the harshness of the outside world to unwind with some great people. Despite one of the co-owners, Josh, bullying me in basically any game we play while half paying attention, I don't think I'll stop coming to this place. If you're ever in the area, I'd highly recommend at least...
