I've been going to WSF for about 47,000 years....jk but it feels like that sometimes. There is something for all, livestock, performances by local groups, displays etc.
It is a short ride North to West Allis and a lot of fun.
There's many great rides on the North side of the park. Little to big kids can be pleased.
On the performances section I was fortunate to accidentally catch up with listening to some really good polka music by the Steve Meisner Tribute again.
Our usual route is to hit the AG products pavilion and we get some Brats, grilled cheese (my sons fav) baked potatoes. There are lots of options.... Outside window for baked potatoes is most often open and there is outdoor seating right there, East side and to the South.
We then saunter around for some music. It's great but sometimes just too loud and I'm not old lol.
The Lions Club corn is off the charts good...I remember the old charcoal grills!
The Giant Slide is an absolute have to go. Lots of easy steps but really fun.
We will always go through the vendors(?) Pavilion on the South side and walk through every aisle. Seeing demos of products is so much fun....plus there's some free stuff and AC if it's toasty. This year fortunate that the weather was about as perfect as possible the day we went.
Don't forget the cream puffs either! We do those last and share a couple, then race home to save them for a day or to or to share, best within a day.
I know I'm missing so many things, these are my favorites.
It is so much fun going.
Something I always anticipate.....one time we accidentally showed up...
Read more08.09.25 .. during the torrential rain, not knowing it was flooded out there, we were in the main building.. I had my two young nieces with me.. I was the last customer for the guy that was selling these awesome blankets! Wrapped up the girls.. slowly walked.. soaking wet.. back to the vehicle. Thank the Lord.. and my Komoot app (which I had activated when we arrived, thankfully).. guided us safely back to the vehicle.. avoiding, the MKE Mile track loaded w/soooo many cars.. I couldn't see where to walk.. and.. checked my phone for another route around. We didn't know about the flooded areas at that time.. so so thankful for the warm blankets on the girls and.. a safe path. The State Fair officials .. were aware of flooding.. they could have been proactive in this very dangerous situation. Very disappointed! So many people could have been warned early.. allowing them to choose to leave before it was what it became. Scooters, strollers, little kids, etc . . . were all at risk. With proper communication, throughout the fair, this could have been avoided. I might not have worded this politically correct.. and.. I'm expert on .. well .. anything ( ;p ).. but I will vent regardless. The increasingly dangerous situation of areas flooding.. which people could NOT have known .. was occurring while they sought shelter within the fair. This was known by those working at the fair.. and.. this warranted immediate communication.. to all fair guests! Too many sad situations and stories, many of which .. could have...
Read moreSo the three Stars have very little to do with the quality of the facility however the corruption there is second to none. Just try getting a spot at the fair if you're not prepared to become a sponsor or let's get real BRIBE THE POWERS TO BE. A State Fair is supposed to reflect the persona of the state however it should be called THE WISCONSIN OUT OF STATE FAIR because the vast majority of the vendors there are from out of state and one company has like 50 spots and they just for the most part SUB LEASE the spots for RENT AND 10pc. And as resident of Wisconsin it sickens me as well as the fact that State fairs are not supposed to be for big OUT OF STATE groups and sell duplicate items and / or just SUBLET THE SPACE. I must say the grounds are nice but all that becomes very ugly when you get to the truth and this is all done IN PLAIN SIGHT AND NOTHING ANYONE SEZ OR FILES COMPLAINTS ABOUT EVEN rattles the cage of the arrogant fair board who is nothing but money motivated. HOW VERY SAD AND IT WILL...
