Not sure how they were able to do it, but my last review from a few weeks ago was deleted. They probably claimed it was spam. To recap, I went into their shop in Keego Harbor several weekends ago with an external hard drive that was not communicating with my computers. I had tried troubleshooting at home but was advised to have professionals take a look at it. I found this place, it was close to my house and open on a Saturday. I took it in, the guy at the desk went into the back room with it for a few minutes then returned stating they couldn't help me. I asked why, he said they plugged it in and it beeped. I asked what that meant, he didn't offer explanation. Just handed me a brochure for an expensive data recovery company. I ended up going home, finding some Youtube tutorials on the correct way to fix external hard drives like mine, followed the instructions and had it fixed in 30 minutes. The arm had gotten stuck on that platter, all I had to do was use some special tools to carefully pull the arm back while spinning the platter counter clockwise. Luckily I had the right tools on hand (I work in IT but don't normally fix hardware.) If it took me that little time to fix, it should have taken them 15 minutes or less. My guess is they either have a deal with the data recovery companies or they don't feel like simple inexpensive fixes are worth their time. Definitely won't be back, definitely won't refer...
Read moreCan’t praise Dave and his colleagues enough. Both my computers, Dell and Mac, had serious problems at the same time and I was distraught. Macbook suddenly died; could not turn on. Apple support wanted almost $500 up front just to inspect. The $3,000 Dell XPS was out of storage and unusable. A friend suggested I see Dave. Wow. They disassembled the Mac, diagnosed the complicated problem, and had it back to me the same day. No loss of data and a fraction of Apple’s charge, assuming Apple could have repaired it and not just suggested buying a new one. For the Dell, Dave said he could replace my 256 hard drive with a 1T, and not lose my precious data. He delivered the next day. The charge, again, was most reasonable and a tiny fraction of the cost of a new computer. So, great service; really knowledgeable and reasonable charges. Can’t beat...
Read moreDave was absolutely amazing. In late December, my son had built a computer with many new components that he'd purchased with savings and Christmas money (mostly from Microcenter), but for some reason it refused to work. At Microcenter, they told us that it would be two weeks before they would even look at it, so we brought it here, based on the good reviews. We were not disappointed. Dave got on it the next day, and admitted that some of the components were so new that he couldn't properly diagnose it, and didn't charge us -- but told us what he suspected, and gave my son extensive and very valuable advice. He turned out to be 100% right; back at Microcenter, we got a couple of components that Dave recommended, and it wasn't long before my son's machine was up and running beautifully. Five stars is...
