📍 West town, Chicago
I actually visited about 4 months ago before it was fully built out. When I saw all the stalls being built out, I just COULD NOT WAIT!
Kenny built Gangnam Market because he wanted to have all of his favorite foods in one spot.
Everything that he loves from home.. he wanted to bring to Chicago
And I felt all the love , with 🍣 🍜 and 🍚 🐮
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱: 🍜 Turkey paitan ramen $20 :super creamy & chewy. This is the ONLY TURKEY PAITAN in the US
🍚 Bibimbap with extra meat $27- lots of meat that's thin sliced
🍣 Sashimi platter $16 with fatty salmon, tuna, and yellowtail
𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: ✅ Everyone speaks canto, it's like I'm home 😂
✅ Amazing service, and everything was made on the SPOT. So expect to wait at least 15 mins 👍
✅ Free parking available for 90mins next door (take & save the ticket, get it validated at the store)
✅ Hong Kong bakery items available, including pork bun, coconut flakes bun, pork floss bun, curry bao& lotus sticky rice 🤤
✅ All my favorite foods in one Asian food hall, including Hainan chicken rice. Not too expensive
✅ Don't need to go to Chicago's Chinatown, and I can come here after work!
𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀: ☝️They close at 9pm, come around 8:30 to avoid the crowds. Otherwise order online on Toast & pick up in store
☝️This is the only Turkey Paitan Ramen probably in the US. when you order it, the manager recommended adding black garlic oil & chilli oil. Delish!
☝️There's a huge cotton candy machine next to the entrance. Get dessert there or in the store i.e. ice cream bars 🤤
☝️Loyalty program available with 1point for every $ spent + $5 off with 250 points.2x points on Wednesdays
☝️Full Bar available as well in case you want to just have a drink with friends

Read moreOne of the glaring omissions from the Chicago food scene and grocery store scene are Asian supermarkets. Especially if you are outside side Chinatown, Asian grocery stores are few and far in between. That’s why Gangnam Market is such a God sent. First is easily accessible. It’s right off Chicago avenue and Ogden avenue in the River West story, which is close to the Loop and River North. Not only is it close to the intersection of two major streets, it also near major public transportation routes. It’s across the block from the Chicago blue line stop and along the 66 Chicago bus route. Second, it has free parking. Given that parking is hard in this neighborhood it nice that they offer 90 minutes free parking with validation. Third, their food selection of this very good. They have a ton of different brands and types of chips, dry ramen and drinks. Many of these brands I haven’t see at other Asian supermarkets. Also, if you are an anime fan, they have a lot of anime themed products. I had fun exploring and randomly grabbing different dinks to try. Also they are well stocked when it comes to fruits/vegetables, meat and seafood. Also, they have a descent selection of non-Asian food. So if want to shop for both Asian options and Western/American food you can do it under one roof. Fourth, the people are super nice and the service is great. The cashier that helped me out was very nice and helpful. Fifth, they have a good food court. They had many options, but I chose the ramen shop the day I visited. My ramen was made to order and it tasted great.
In sum, this is the Asian supermarket you need...
Read moremy family and i were being watched every single step by the security, keep in mind it was like 7-8pm and the store was packed by many others before closing time but just us were being literally followed by this security and he didn’t even try to make it discrete. Not sure if it’s multiple security who works there but this was a tall African American man and was wearing bright red shoes. One occasion he was literally standing behind me, my boyfriend, and our baby for the longest until i moved out of “his way” so he could keep on walking knowing i did this on purpose so i could prove that he was just targeting us. The store is very cute and clean i loved the store and it’s layout don’t get me wrong but due to their security i won’t be going again unfortunately. Like what made this man think we wanted or were going to steal? Is it because we came in a big group? Is it because we’re hispanic? Like why out of all the people there we were targeted? And the fact that once all of us payed he went over to the desk with a Caucasian man and said “yup they grabbed this and this but it’s all payed for” laughed and went ahead to lean on the desk as “his job was done” type like how rude and sad that is. I will be letting my friends and family know about this situation. To not go here to deal with this situation. The fact that this happened on my birthday and on the first time i came to this market is crazy to me. No hate towards the store but make your security aware that they are not slick or train them better not to make other feel...
