A dear friend brought me to Kym when I was physically in very bad shape after an extended illness that left me weak and uncoordinated. I was barely able to walk normally because of a lifetime of back, hip, ankle, and toe injuries that were not properly healed. Kym evaluated my unique challenges and carefully modified my pilates program to address each of those limitations. In addition, Kym also has personal experience with nutritional support challenges and is able to recommend safe options, which has helped me learn to eat again while addressing my unique and previously debilitating chemical sensitivities and allergies to food and environmental substances.
Kym is an expert at reading the needs of my body and tailors the movements accordingly. I find myself hearing Kym's voice about proper alignment, centering, anchoring, etc. as I apply those concepts to moving safely in my daily life. It is a blessing to have Kym and the Pure Pilates team to guide me into a more healthy, self care mindset. I can wholeheartedly say that Kym has created an intimate, safe, and welcoming place for people like me who are not athletically inclined and are body shy in public. Pure Pilates is a sanctuary zone for me now. Kym is also very flexible in scheduling my sessions to fit my very intense work schedule.
I am happy to say that after nearly a year of focused private and duet sessions that I am now able to do a sit up safely and can touch the floor without falling over! I have lost over 20 pounds related to water retention and inflammation. My fat is melting away and my muscle tone is evening out. It feels so great to be able to move again. Kym is gradually extending my movements and says that I am soon to "graduate" to an intermediate level. At 49 years old, I feel young again and am excited that I can keep up with my students and actively engage in life as we are called to be.
