Windy City Café - The Epitome of Pancake Perfection in Chicago When it comes to breakfast in Chicago, Windy City Café stands tall as a haven for pancake enthusiasts like myself. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing their pancakes, and without a doubt, they are the best I've ever tasted in the city. From the moment you step into Windy City Café, the inviting aroma of freshly cooked pancakes fills the air, heightening your anticipation for the culinary delights that await. The café's cozy atmosphere and friendly staff create a warm and welcoming environment that adds to the overall dining experience. Now, let's talk about those pancakes. Oh, what a marvel they are! The pancakes at Windy City Café are a true masterpiece, flawlessly combining light and fluffy textures with rich, indulgent flavors. Every bite feels like a symphony of taste and satisfaction. The first thing that struck me was the sheer size of the pancakes. They arrive at your table towering high, enticing you with their golden-brown exterior and a hint of caramelization. The moment you cut into them, you'll discover a pillowy softness that melts in your mouth, leaving you craving more. What sets these pancakes apart is their exceptional flavor. Whether you opt for the classic buttermilk or venture into the realm of blueberry or chocolate chip, Windy City Café delivers an explosion of taste with each bite. The pancake batter is expertly crafted, with just the right balance of sweetness and a touch of tanginess. It's as if they've perfected the art of pancake alchemy. To complement these pancake masterpieces, Windy City Café offers an array of delectable toppings and accompaniments. From a generous dollop of whipped cream to a drizzle of warm maple syrup, every detail is thoughtfully considered to enhance the pancake experience. You can customize your pancakes with fresh fruits, nuts, or even a sprinkle of powdered sugar, ensuring that every visit to Windy City Café is a unique and delightful adventure. In addition to the outstanding pancakes, the service at Windy City Café is attentive and friendly. The staff members are knowledgeable and always ready to provide recommendations or address any dietary preferences or concerns. In conclusion, Windy City Café has firmly established itself as the go-to destination for pancake aficionados in Chicago. Their pancakes are simply extraordinary, combining heavenly textures with tantalizing flavors. Whether you're a local or a visitor to the Windy City, a visit to Windy City Café is a breakfast experience you won't want to miss.

One of the best brunchy diners I’ve been to in Chicago. Located a biscuit’s toss away from the Chicago blueline station, it’s convenient and easy to find. They’ve got indoor and outdoor seating, offering tables and booths near the window and in a side room. The service was friendly and responsive, menu was extensive, food came quickly, and price didn’t break the bank. I got veggie sausage and eggs, with a side of pancakes to split. My partner got chilaquiles that he raved about. It was a great brunch spot that well hit up again, for sure!

This is a diner, so the food is what it is. The special decor and cleanliness would make you think you're going to get something a bit more special, but it's not like that. So I had to adjust my expectations when I first went here. The service is always friendly, and now that I've read the reviews, I should try the coffee next time. What I find misleading is what are really toasted sandwiches that they call "panini." Panini are supposed to be pressed down. But my food was fine.

My burger was absolutely delicious but the counter lady Diane H. was downright rude. She didn't acknowledge me at all when I approached the counter.

She turned her back on me several times without asking if I needed help. I finally asked her if the small bag on the counter was my order and she very discourteously, retorted; "what's your name?"

I told her my name and she gratingly responds: "then that's your order" but turns her back to me again and starts pushing buttons on her queue board.

Finally, she comes back to state the cost and take my payment. I hand her the credit card, she slams a receipt on the counter without saying a word and turns her back on me again.

I'm totally annoyed at this point but keep my calm and ask; "Do you need me to sign this or..." before I can finish my sentence she grunts; "Yeah I need you to sign it." So I sign and take my bag. She never cracked even half a smile nor thanked me or anything of that nature.

She wasn't paying any attention to me when I walked up and barely paid any while I was making my payment however when I reach over to grab one of the mints in front of the register she's stretching her neck to simply see how many mints I'm going to grab.

Unacceptable! Makes me not want to return or recommend this place to anyone.

Appears to me they don't like or have respect for people of color and...

Oatmeal, oatmeal, oatmeal. If I want to mention anything here, its the oatmeal! That's all I have to say about that.

What a fantastic corner restaurant!! Stopped here while my car was being serviced. I told the hostess what I was doing and said I may be here awhile, if you need the table, kick me out. She responded, you take as long as you like. Never eating here before, I had no clue how busy they would be on a Saturday morning at 10am. By 10:45am, I'm glad my car was done early because the people were flowing in the front door.

Did I mention the oatmeal? If I did, this is what I started with. I completed it with an omelette, hashbrowns and toast. One word... FRESH! From start to finish, the food was incredible. You can taste each ingredient, nothing overwhelming and nothing missing. You want tea? A handy wooden service tray with glass tubes is brought to the table so you can see what they have to offer and take a whiff before you decide.

Fairly priced for the food you get; your wallet and stomach will not complain whatsoever. Awesome staff, quick service, attentive, talkative, friendly and just all-around good peeps.

Windy City Cafe, next time my car is in for service, I will be back....
