Sri and Jana Photography — Attraction in West Chicago Township

We were looking for places that took maternity pictures and newborn pictures for a reasonable price and good quality. After days and weeks of searching and people s recommendation s, we came across PhotosbySri . We instantly fell in love with their style and their prices were very reasonable! As a viewer the pictures told a story, also looked like the photographer loved what he was doing and knew what he was doing. So we took a chance and decided to go with Sri. We emailed them and from then on we started communicating with them thru text messages. It s like we clicked with them instantly, they made us feel really comfortable. So my girlfriend and I were looking forward to the photo session. As soon as we got to the studio we were welcomed and they made us feel really comfortable. Sri and Jana were very friendly with us. Despite the fact that we looked very young and I, myself is covered with tattoo s. But still they didn t judge a book by it s cover. They joked and made us feel like we were in our own home, which you have to agree that many photographers these days just want to get to business right away. But Sri and Jana wanted to get to know US as a couple and our lives. After a little chit chat they explained how the photo session was going to go in detail. Since it was a maternity session, they made my girlfriend feel really comfortable and always made sure she was feeling good and okay during the session. Sri took AMAZING pictures of my girlfriend and I. We had an amazing time and session. We looked at a slideshow at the end of our session and we fell in love with ALL of our pictures that were taken. The picture s told our story that we were so happy of becoming new first time parents. All of our friends and family loved our pictures and even some friends after seeing our pictures told us they regret not getting maternity pictures since ours looked amazing! We are SUPER GLAD we made the decision to go with Sri and Jana studios for our maternity pictures. We are looking forward for our newborn session, just waiting on our little bundle of joy to be born. I discovered Sri and Jana through happy accident. I wasn't seriously considering professional newborn photos until an acquaintance mentioned their work. (I'm still unsure if they are the photographers my friend spoke of ... Pregnancy brain.) But, nevertheless, I sought out popular newborn photographers in Chicago (we live in Bucktown) just to see what they had to offer.

To begin, Sri and Jana's online portfolio is a testament in itself. (Just take a peek. If your with gestating babe, you won't be able to handle.) After sufficient drooling over a 30-min slideshow, I called them, wanting to better understand the process/pricing/location info. Sri was quick to respond via e-mail (and later text, my preference). You know when you're 5 months pregnant with your first child and small, regular anxiety attacks become the norm? Sri was a breath of fresh air: He walked me through everything from start to finish over the phone and followed up with a color-coded e-mail (Im a strong proponent for the highlight option in e-mail correspondence.) I asked one hundred stupid questions and Sri was thorough, kind and professional in his assistance.

And that's exactly how our interactions progressed and were eventually reflected in his and his wife Jana's work the day of the shoot. Babe came a few days early and Sri and Jana were quick to accommodate us with a session time. My fiancé and I sat shoeless on a much too comfortable couch, breathing in vanilla candles and drinking the dark coffee they provided. The studio is gorgeous: an old warehouse lofted space with fabulous light (I'm sure, though it rained the day of our photos.) I couldn't stop smiling watching our tiny babe go through wardrobe changes and precious pose after precious pose with the upmost care (Jana is the ultimate Baby Whisperer.) Sri would show us little previews of especially adorable shots he got on his camera view while Jana quickly prepped Babe for the next round. We had so much fun.

Like everyone who has ever had a baby tells you, it's difficult to describe those first weeks with a newborn: the days become a blurred mixture of wonderment and wallowing, absolute beauty and extreme challenge on 3 minutes of sleep. In search of a special person to capture my first pregnancy bump, I Googled “maternity photographer.” I looked through many photographers’ portfolio on their websites and Sri’s photographs captured my attention. It stood out as being artistic and unique. After talking to Sri over the phone, he informed me about different pricing packages, so I decided to meet him in person.

If I didn’t live in a Chicago neighborhood, I would have thought the outside of the studio looked sketchy and suspicious. However, once we were in his studio, we were floored. His workspace definitely had his personal style and it’s obvious that Sri and Jana have good taste. After our meeting, it was clear to us that Sri knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s an expert photographer for maternity pictures and gave us suggestions on what type of “look” will look good for us. Sri usually has his clients pay in two separate payments, but he allowed us to pay him on three separate occasions.

Before the day of the photo shoot, Jana was in constant communication with me. She was very patient for I had tons of questions. Makeup and gown were provided, but I had to come in with my hair ready. We went to three separate locations for the photo shoot. We planned on only visiting two locations, but we had to improvised when one of the locations were crowded. This shows how flexible Sri and Jana are. Sri and Jana complement each other very well. They can communicate with each other flawlessly and are easy to work with. Sri has his own ideas on what looks good, but Jana makes sure Sri also does what we like. Jana is the one who tell you how to pose, and Sri takes the pictures.

The photographs turned out phenomenal. As part of the package, we get to select a certain amount of pictures to be retouched/photoshopped. We received both edited and unedited versions in high resolution in about two weeks.
