I recently had what could only be described as the worst massage experience ever at Ancient Thai Massage. I had heard some positive reviews on the internet, but my personal encounter left me gravely disappointed and skeptical of the recommendations on there.
To start with, there was no sign of a legitimate license displayed anywhere on the walls of the establishment. This immediately raised concerns about the credibility of the massage therapists working there. Moreover, the communication between the massage therapist and myself was terribly poor. It seemed as if we were speaking different languages, making it challenging to convey my preferences and areas that needed attention.
The most critical aspect of any massage is the skill and technique of the therapist. Unfortunately, the massage therapist at Ancient Thai Massage appeared to be far less skilled than even an intern at a massage school. The entire session felt like a series of random rubs rather than a targeted massage to release tension and promote relaxation. I left feeling more tense and uncomfortable than when I arrived. The environment of the spa was far from relaxing. The ambiance was unappealing, and it lacked the serene atmosphere that is typically expected in such establishments. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the experience, the owner made a feeble excuse, stating that they would have arranged a better experience if they had known I was knowledgeable about massages. This attitude of differentiating treatment based on the customer's background is completely unacceptable. After this unfortunate experience, I have decided never to return to Ancient Thai Massage. The combination of unprofessionalism, lack of skill, and indifferent attitude towards customers made it a complete waste of both time and money. I highly advise anyone seeking a quality massage to look elsewhere for a reputable and competent spa.
In conclusion, my encounter with Ancient Thai Massage was a disappointment on multiple levels. From the lack of a valid license and poor communication to the appalling skills of the massage therapist and a disheartening environment, it was a regrettable experience that I would not wish upon...
Read moreReasonable massage place that helps you get the aches out! I love getting a massage here. It’s $40 for an hour massage, and first time clients get it for $35, so it’s way cheaper than getting a massage on the West Side. Try paying in cash because there’s a $2 fee for credit cards (and bring smaller bills so you can tip!). At the beginning of the massage, they’ll ask what pressure level you’d like. I personally prefer a medium level, as the hard one is pretty intense. You are given a top and boxer shorts to change into and then your masseuse will come in. It’s just curtains separating you from other patrons, but it’s generally quiet and there’s soft music playing throughout. Try making an appointment, but they do accept walk-ins. Nadia and Pam treated us very well, although definitely ask for Gina if you get a chance! Everyone here is really sweet and super competent, although be aware that their English is limited. When you’re done with your massage, you’re given tea and crackers. The tip envelope is there as well. Overall, highly recommend coming here whether you want to treat yourself or soothe...
Read moreThe establishment is in a strip plaza with decent parking. I don’t personally like the smell of the oil rub. They do give you your max time that you book for. I would say the massage was decent but it didn’t wow me enough. The prices are decent also. It’s $50 an hour. $70 for 80 mins. They are quite busy and it did take a 15 min wait or so from greet to change to an actual masseuse coming in. The place looks like it needs a little cleaning or sorting. There were all sorts of boxes up in the front room. They should separate that and cover it up. Presentation is key to every successful health establishment. I’m still in search for a masseuse that knows how to really hit the neck and know how to do reflexology not just the relaxing kind, but the healing kind. Oh, and because it’s on a bed and not the floor like Thailand, they are not able to get to all the spots that you would normally get on the floor. Plus, the wood bed is kind of painful against the breast as it’s so hard vs a padded mattress...
