We had read the reviews of Belton Chalet before arriving and knew what to expect. We booked a superior room and were given a room on the ground floor next to the reception area facing the road. It had a large balcony which was nice but not private so you see other guests.||As other reviewers have said the rooms are small, dated and tired. It was probably last renovated 20 years ago. There is no air-conditioning so the rooms get very hot. The Chalet do supply earplugs and a white noise machine to muffle the noise of the trains that rattle past 24/7. As we were hiking each day we were tired so found these worked ok to help us sleep.||The bed was a small queen but comfortable enough. The bathroom was the size of a closet with a very compact shower and toilet. There was no space to move around either in or out of the shower. The tiny handbasin is located in the bedroom and there is nowhere to put any toiletries. ||Is the property overpriced at $380pn for what it offers, yes. Putting that aside, a few things let the property down. Housekeeping did a good job one day out of our 3 day stay. On the second day they took the tip we left but did nothing. Needless to say there was no tip on day 3. The breakfast consisted of defrosted iced buns. Not pastries as advertised. Coffee was only available in the morning and no coffee making facilities in the room. This was poor. Also one of the blinds in the room became unfolded and couldn't be opened. We couldn't figure out how to reposition the cords but housekeeping made no effort to fix it.||What saved the experience for us was the location (under 10 minutes from the park entrance) and the superb restaurant. The food was high quality, delicious and surprisingly good given the remote location. You can tell that the chef is trained in fine cuisine. The drinks also matched the food quality. Service was good or very good depending on who the server was. We ate in the restaurant...
Read moreIMPORTANT!!! BEFORE YOU BOOK! Understand that the ratings for the hotel and the restaurant are muddled together. The Restraunt is AMAZING, definitely 5 star, delicious goodness worth the price. HOWEVER the hotel is NOT! You will pay 5 stars for a 2.5 star hotel. Its like stepping back in time for sure. Wood floors are not friendly if your feeling romantic and like your privacy, or prefer your neighbors to have privacy. In their toiletry bag, they include earplugs, you'll need them! You can hear people in the other rooms and the hallway and especially the trains, because they are right next door roaring through the night! If you desire to wash your face with warm water, bring a bowl, as you will need to run the separate faucets to combine them. There is no AC, which is an indication, that there will not be other amenities like a microwave, or a fridge if you bought food for the park. Thank goodness we had our fan! I was frustrated after hiking 20+ miles, because I couldn't soak in the tub, they have small showers only. I would pay $75 for this place, not $200!!! I will say that it felt clean, and that is high on my priority list, so thank you. Location is great. I highly recommend this establishment separate the hotel and restaurant on Google for honest reviews. Next, invest their overcharges on carpeting the floors, deadbolts for the door, for increased privacy and security. The hotel room isn't bad, but prices needs to be adjusted, and false impressions online need to be honest. The location makes sense for some of the...
Read moreOur stay at the Belton Chalet was so delightful that we managed to secure the last available room, prompting us to extend our visit for another night after spending time on the east side of Park. Two distinct aspects of the Belton Chalet continue to resonate with me:||||1. The moment we stepped foot into this historic establishment, it felt as though we had been transported back in time to an era of travel that was deeply intertwined with the railroad. It was fascinating to contemplate the origins of this place and how it was closely tied to the heyday of passenger trains in the early 1900s. The same sense of wonder that must have greeted travelers back then seemed to envelop us, making our stay even more enchanting.||||2. The dining experience at the Belton Chalet truly elevated our visit. The restaurant's romantic ambiance, coupled with the culinary talents in the kitchen, made it an easy decision to return for a second evening of dining. We couldn't resist the allure of the beautiful working fireplace and, anticipating the cozy warmth it would provide, we made our reservation a day in advance, specifically requesting a fireside table. It was a delightful surprise to find it waiting for us when we arrived that evening. It's these thoughtful touches that leave a lasting impression and enhance the overall charm of this charming...
