I was originally planning to provide a 4 star for this establishment since the food and service was wonderful. Having spent close to $300 in the time we have been here on vacation at this establishment to include restaurant and their store we had no complaints. Until today. We needed to stop and get a bag of ice but I was unable to pull into the lot where the parking is located (traffic issue) so we pulled through the gas station and was preparing to circle around to the front where the parking was when a man in a white Toyota 4 runner pulled in and blocked my ability to go around front. I pointed where I was trying to get to but he didn't move so I could get around to the front of the store. At this point my son said he would run in and get the ice while I tried to let this man get to where ever he was trying to get to. I then backed up thinking maybe he was trying to get to a gas pump. Unfortunately this was not the case. He proceeded to get out of his car and yell at me about not parking on the side of the store (this area is marked with no parking signs) which I had no intention of doing. I attempted to explain what my intention was but as soon as I informed him I had no plan on parking there he chastised me saying "yeah that's what you all say!" as he went and got back in his car. He then literally pulled up and parked where he was yelling at me not to park. When he got out of the car I attempted to kindly explain yet again what my plans had been before he blocked me in but he waved me off as he walked away and I am 99% sure he told me to F off. He started walking towards a back door into the establishment so I asked if he was the owner. He told "yeah go ahead and call the owner" then walked into the building. I was so upset, as was my son. I was mostly upset because he lumped me into want appears to be a parking issue at this place but refused to hear me out. My approach was calm and kind. So I did attempt to call and speak with the manager (perhaps he was this person, I'm pretty sure he was) several times and explain what happened but they do not answer the phone. I will not spend another penny in this place after this experience. Customer service is everything. All it would have taken was for this man to calm down and have a conversation with one of his customers but he picked a different route. Sure hope if he is the manager that he treats his staff better then he appears to treat his customers. If he isn't the manager then someone needs to speak with him. A 5 min conversation could have made your store more money on this off season time as we are here for a week. -------- In response to the reply from the establishment. I was never parked anywhere. My car was never placed in park at anytime during this interaction. We pulled through the parking lot and were coming around the gas pumps to get back the front. The only people there were myself, my son, and the guy who would not move so I could continue to pull through. So I find this response lacking accountability for whomever this man was taking to a customer that way. As a business owner this is not how I would handle a customer complaint.

We stopped in after a day at the Glacier National Park. Their dinner menu offers a variety of options to make everyone happy. Although, it's not on the menu, our waiter did inform us of what was available for kids since we had a three-year-old with us. We order the Quesadilla and Onion Ring Appetizers. The homemade guacamole and salsa were spot on for our preferences and they were the perfect size for our family. I had their Buffalo meatballs with huckleberry jalapeño glaze. Overall the dish was delicious and I would order it again. The meatballs were so flavorful and moist. The polenta cakes were a little dry and crumbly, but tasted good. Everyone else ordered burgers or grilled cheese. They all seemed happy and satisfied with their sandwich choices. The fries were eh, they are hand cut and fresh made so we weren't expecting crisp fries, but they were just large and bland. Everything else was so delectable they just paled in comparison. The only con would be in regard to atmosphere/staff. We felt slightly uncomfortable. The staff wasn't rude or anything, but they also weren't personable or friendly. At first, we were concerned maybe we were too casual for the establishment or it wasn't intended for families with young children, but as we saw the place fill up (after our arrival) we saw similar customers throughout.

Wonderful family owned restaurant with a alpine feel. Beautiful wooden floors and furniture provide a warm ambiance. We were taken care of by the owners son who provided wonderful service and spoke highly of his mother's cooking. We started out with the spider tots and camping logs which were delicious. The tots were crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy potato on the inside with a nice doing sauce. The logs were creamy cheese and crab filled with a sweet and sour sauce. For our entrees we had the Rib eye steak which was tender and topped with a green peppercorn sauce, chicken saltimbocca was moist and crusted with prosciutto in a light sauce, the chicken pot pie was a modern version with large chunks of chicken in a creamy gravy with puffed pastry and the bowman salad with spinach and grilled vegetables. All of the dishes were good scratch cooking and the beers were cold and refreshing. We had the honey ale and the brown. You need to save room for the homemade pies...Huckleberry lemon....delicious. best food in the area.

My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant on the order of 7-8 times over the last 4 years. 4-5 of those instances were 4 years ago and I recall nothing but good feelings about the food, service, and prices. This time around, the experience was a bit varied. I think, if allowed, I would give a 3.5 stars, but I'm feeling contrarian, so I'm rounding down.

We've eaten here 3 times in the last week; twice for breakfast and once for dinner. Let me just break down our experience by category:

  1. Food quality- 5 stars: This is absolutely not the issue at this restaurant. Everything we've eaten has tasted wonderful and been prepared to perfection. It is absolutely clear that the staff can cook and Cheri's pies are amazing.

  2. Service- 2 stars: Two of the three servers we had really disappointed me. The first meal we had, we were ignored for long periods of time and I had to track down another server to pay my bill (after sitting at least 10 minutes). The second server was fine--no complaints. The last meal we had I couldn't help but feel like the server wanted to be anywhere but where she was. It was just the bare-minimum of service necessary to bring the food and take the money. Contrasted against the service received in many other local restaurants, I am underwhelmed. NOTE: I did see other tables appearing to get rather good service, yet others seemingly unsatisfied-- seems luck of the draw.

  3. Portions/Value- 3 stars: This one was also variable, but left a bit wanting overall. My first breakfast was really meager in size for the ($12.75 I think?) price paid. Even paying for an extra egg (standard is only one), I still ended up going back to the hotel and munching on a danish. The margins on breakfast foods are huge and I can get 50% more food of similar quality for

Giving a mixed review because we came here two nights in a row and had a Jekyll and Hyde experience. The first night we came, last Wednesday, we had a great time. Our server, a blonde lady, was great. She checked back in regularly and remembered we were saving room for a slice of pie at the end of the night and helped us choose a great flavor. (They have a great list of pie flavors, so save room for dessert.) The following night (8/11) we decided to eat here again and had a very different experience. We were again kindly greeted and promptly seated, but it went downhill from there. Other than a nice girl coming over to bring us waters, there was no sign of a server coming over to our table for quite a while. We could see they were busy so we were fine to wait, but once several tables that had been seated after us had received their drinks and some food from other servers, we decided to say something. Finally our server, a somewhat tall guy with short hair and a bit of a beard, came over to take our order. He skipped any real greeting and acted like we had just walked in. We did receive our order in a reasonable amount of time, and the food was again great. (The kitchen seemed to be kicking butt and not getting bogged down, even with what seemed like a busy night.) We were ready to happily call it a night, but couldn't help notice our server loudly complaining to a coworker about a simple request another customer had made. He was moving more and more like he didn't care. As a result, we were surprised when he was very quick to serve a couple guys who walked in late and sat down at the bar, but after some banter and hanging out with them it was clear these were his friends. He then finally brought us our check and stood over us, saying nothing, as I pulled out my wallet to get my card. When he returned he only said sign the check, and left. Maybe he was in a competition for how dismissively he could serve people. He...
