It's extremely difficult to put into words the way Going-to-the-Sun Road affects you. Take the time to see this road. It is literally one of the most beautiful roads in North America. Every time you look in a different direction or move 10 more feet, there is yet another breathtaking view. I found myself saying "Wow" and in almost disbelief of the beauty of the scenery multiple times. After 3 pm you can go up this road without a road ticket, which leaves plenty of time to see the whole road. The ticket system for this road started last year, 2022. Just time it right to hit the road at 3 pm, and definitely pack a meal and drinks. Once you get to Logan Pass at the top, it can be challenging to get a place to park, but it is not impossible. Iv found a parking spot over 50% of the time. I highly recommend doing the Hidden Lake trail that starts from the Logan Pass visitor's center. It is moderately challenging but well worth it. Glacier Park, in general, has an amazing natural energy to it that makes you fall in love with the mountains and The Going-to-the-Sun is the heart of the park, and there is so much more to see too, especially getting on trails. You don't have to necessarily even hike all that far, at all, in some of the magical places to see world-class scenery. Just talk a short walk on trail, and you will experience the magnificent majesty of this one of a kind park and there are many trails on The...
Read moreWe drove Going to the Sun Road on July 4th with a cousin from Great Falls who was very familiar with the park. Having someone like this along, especially if you have limited time, is extremely helpful. He told us that it was unlikely that we would find a parking place, at the time of day we were going through, at Logan Pass. So we stopped at other, less crowded, places to take short walks and view other sights. There is so much breathtaking beauty that even the 'smaller' sights are memorable. If you only have one day Going to the Sun Road is the road to travel. If we ever go back again I would go early and drive straight to Logan Pass because it looked like there was lots to see in and around the Pass. Plus a nice visitor center. After looking around the Logan Pass area then I would drive the road again stopping at places that look interesting. However, even without being able to stop at Logan Pass we were not disappointed. It is hard to imagine a disappointing day in Glacier...
Read moreWriting this review in case anyone was wondering like I was. I was a little worried before we drove it. We did this road in a Chevy Silverado Dually. Had no problems what so ever. Was a little tight in some spots, mostly where you had the rocks jutting out right on the road. But not bad at all. Only one switchback and that was nothing. We drove it east to west. So you are on the mountains side with the sun at your back. But even the other side looked fine. I'd say it was right around 2 hours across. So if your concerned, dont be we've driven much worse roads then this. And the scenery is definitely worth it!! We drove it June 29th, only about a week after it opened all the way thru. It was fairly busy, but not awful. Our only issue was trying to find parking at the pull outs, especially with a dually, had to pass on many stopping places because of this. Logan's pass parking lot was closed because it was full so we didn't get a chance to stop. Hopefully you'll get a...
