My first rollercoaster. The Jack Rabbit at Kennywood on June 13th, 2009. It was designed by John Miller and built by Harry C. Baker and Charlie Mach and opened on June 18th, 1920, the Jack Rabbit is famous for its big airtime going down its signature 70ft double down (double dip). The ride originally featured a tunnel when it opened. In 1947, the Jack Rabbit's tunnel was removed. In 1951, the ride's original trains built by Miller & Baker were replaced with new trains built by Edward Vettel. In 1967, the park was considering transforming the Jack Rabbit into the Thunderbolt in 1968, but the decision was changed to transform the Pippin into the Thunderbolt. In 1991, the ride's tunnel was restored. In 2002, the Jack Rabbit's original skid brakes were replaced with new magnetic brakes. On June 21st, 2010, the ride was designated an ACE Coaster Landmark. With a height of 40ft and a top speed of 45mph, the Jack Rabbit features a terrain layout. The Jack Rabbit is an ACE Coaster Classic, the world's 5th oldest roller coaster, one of only 10 surviving John Miller designs, one of only 3 surviving coasters built by Harry C. Baker, and one of only 2 surviving coasters built by Charlie Mach. (C) Rik Engelen.

This coaster is an old classic ! I rode this in 2023 and in 2024 and I really enjoyed it. My mom, dad and sister all love this one as well. I really like how it don’t have a chain lift to start, u go down a hill to start the ride which is fun! Definitely a good classic woodie in my book. I also had the opportunity to ride this with American coaster enthusiasts as well which was fun! If ur at kennywood definitely come give this a ride.

A timeless classic and a historic landmark. Opened in June of 1920, Jack Rabbit was one of the first roller coasters built with "upstop" wheels, putting wheels above AND below the coaster track. The double dip with just a seatbelt in the back row is some of the best airtime on a classic coaster anywhere. Also consistently the fastest-moving line in the park the last 2 years.

What a fun surprise. I was expecting a pretty mild family coaster... Not 100% true. While this coaster is not nearly as intense as Thunderbolt, it's no slouch. I was surprised to see the cars, you shimmy under a stationary lap bar and buckle up.

A slow curve leads you to the first drop, fun and a little thrilling. A tunnel covers the first turn around amplifying the screams and laughs. Then after another short drop, you finally get to the lift halfway through the ride. After a short turn around, the big drop comes. A nice thrilling first half of the drop leads to a straightaway, then... the car drops, but your butt is still in the air for what feels like a full 2-3 seconds. After one more turnaround and brief drop the ride comes to an end. An...
