I hate to give anyone less than 3 stars, but this is not a very good store. Very poor layout. I was there to just to get one item. The west side of the store’s entrance is completely blocked off. I was forced to walk over to the east side of the store only to hike my way all of the back to the west side to get my one item. There were two checkouts open and the rest of the empty checkouts were blocked off, filled with a line of carts.
Why does Marcs do this? I asked an employee how to actually get into the store since the checkout isles were all blocked. She was pretty nasty with her reply: “It’s suppose to be like this. You have to walk around”. Maybe she was tired of people asking her. It would make more sense to remove one of the many closed checkouts and create an isle in the center of the store’s entrance for incoming customers. I really didn’t see a clear path to get into the shopping area. It shouldn’t take much effort to get into a store to shop; and while re-routing traffic to one side of the store may be some kind of security issue for the 0.1% of the shoplifters in this area, it is a big inconvenience for all of the other customers. Go to any Giant Eagle, Lowes, Home Depot, Target or Walmart. Shoppers are able to enter and go in the direction they need to go. I know I will shy away from shopping at this Marcs...
Read moreI used to like going in Marc’s, anymore it’s just an aggravation. The express line is forever closed, why have it if it is never opened? You should probably just take the sign down because it’s serves no purpose. When I go into Marc’s I usually don’t by more than 10 items, so I would like to be in and out. Then I go to the service desk for quicker service and get stuck waiting for people playing lottery and making .99 cents returns. Also, since they moved to the new location things are worse. It is very cramped and clearly not the right size. You can barely get down isles and around corners because of it being so tight. Especially if you have one of their carts. I like the small carts because I usually have more items than will fit in the basket, but don’t need the huge cart. However, small carts are very rarely anywhere to be found. I feel cluster phobic going down the isles with a high cart, it’s bad enough with the small one or none at all. Whoever thought the layout of this new location and decided where to put things must have not been very knowledgeable. What a way to irritate your customers and make shopping more difficult. The prices have went up as well. I’d rather just pay a little more and go to Meijer or Aldi. The stores are bigger and organized better, with...
Read moreMarc's has lost me as a customer. I tried to return some tomatoes on the vine today that had gone bad on the counter at home in less than 3 days. The customer service rep told me that perishables are normally not returnable and to probably keep them in the refrigerator next time. 1) There will be no next time, at least not from Marc's. 2) Marc's does not keep their tomatoes on the vine refrigerated in the store. 3) I have never seen a store policy anywhere posted which states which goods are and are not returnable, especially in such a short timeframe. I've given Marc's a lot of business over the years but this is ridiculous. Had I picked up the tomatoes in a refrigerated section then I would have stored them in a refrigerator at home. My air conditioning is as good as the store's so a cool dry environment should be enough for...
