I recently discovered this local thrift store while on a bike ride heading south along Middle Belt Rd. I find it worthwhile to investigate such "dives", if one will, as a change of pace from the limitations and annoyances of some of the more well-known thrift store chains: lack of pricing on interesting items which is then arbitrarily assigned based on a discriminatory visual evaluation of the customer at the "Savior Militia" chain, exceedingly rare diamonds among the mountains of disgusting rough marked with indelible red soap pen at the "Economical Cosmos" chain, and comically commercial know-nothingness at the self-proclaimed "Benevolence" chain.
This repurposed retail outlet in a strip mall is a bit shocking upon first entry due to a large, brightly-lit sales floor that is comparatively sparse in merchandise (read: not a gloomy, dirty, clutter of junk and clothes on crowded shelves and racks). Everything I looked at throughout the store was clearly labeled with a price and color that corresponds to weekly rotating sales of 50% or 75% off. The PA regularly chimed with a recorded reminder to shoppers of the store's policy for masks and social distancing, the current sales, and the most enticing thrift store special I've ever heard of: every Sunday, the management of the store chooses a tag color and all items marked as such are 25Ā¢ or 5 for $1, no matter what type of item it is! The men's clothing selection had some select fashionable and fitting pieces that must be winnowed from the chaff, as with all thrift stores, but even the 75% off sale color tag items couldn't beat the price of 5 for $5 clothing sales at other chains (unless on Sundays...). The store is open 7 days a week until 8 PM, perfect for anyone who works and finds it difficult to visit other chains with more limited hours and absolutely unnecessary days closed for business.
While shopping, a female associate greeted me and courteously offered to hold at the checkout counter some delicate items I had foolishly chosen and held in my arms because I neglected to get a shopping cart conveniently provided by the entrance of the store. While perusing the electronics and appliances, I was intrigued by the products being clearly marked as either checked and working or not tested, but I was still unsure regarding the functionality of two motion-sensored night lights that required 9-volt batteries for operation: two male associates helpfully coordinated to provide me with a tester battery from the donation processing area of the store which allowed me to confirm that the lights worked (battery not included with purchase, oh well!).
This store is definitely worth a peek, and I will be returning on the soonest Sunday I am available to check out the outrageously awesome sale promised over...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have shopped at this location since it was a Veterans supported business. I do find some great items here but in the last few months the customer service has been awful. I have been overcharged and discounts have not been given properly. When I have brought it to the management 's attention..They simply don't care and either want to refund your card and then recharge or simply tell you..too bad,not sad. I went in recently and purchased a large amount of items.I told the cashier( manager) I was a senior. After checkout I left and looked at my bill to find ...no discount? This was the manager! By this time the store was closed. I went in the next morning to show the same woman my recept and she said I would have to bring all the items back?? Why?? To do the same refund ..re ring?? What happened to, here is the difference in a credit?
Bottom line.. Good place to find things.. Pay in cash( they charge you to use credit) also they keep your card on filešµ I paid with my debit card and they never asked to see my card when they did a credit before they rerang me...which took a full week to receive... Add up everything before you checkout so if there is a difference you can challenge it BEFORE you pay. I would rather inconvenience the people that cannot do their jobs properly then take hard earned dollars out of my pocket and minutes off my life to deal with people that have no passion and only are there to collect a paycheck. Must be why I see new cashiers in there constantly. Heard this is a family owned business....hard...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in here to purchase an outfit for my office christmas party. I looked around for almost over an hour, and found a nice outfit. I went to check out and all my items were fine but the suit jacket. The price tag ticket had come off so the cashier refused to sell the item to me. Even though another cashier had juat sold a non ticketed item to anotger customer right in front me. At first I just left because I was so upset. The cashier who claimed to be a manager and I quote said when asked what policy was for its purpose explained to me it was "to make them feel good". I because of the need for my outfit went back to get the items that were tagged, only to have the manager chanhe the price of two of my items. The receipt is a confusing mess that makes no sense, and I know what the total was the first time the items were rang up. All were discounted items the first time I went in. I came back and they rang me up again without the Jacket that was not ticketed and needed to go back through their vigorous pricing system. Except this time they only discounted two of my items. I will not be going back. This manager and her explanation of the policy and attitude were horrendous. A policy that entire purpose is to "make them feel good", is more like one to descriminate against customers tbey dont like for whatever reason. I will not be returning ever. Hope they enjoyed my 23 dollars. I can only imagine the rigorous hiring and experience needed to cashier at such a fine...
