Ah, slice of the 80s. Having lived through 2 whole months of the 80s, I feel I can relate to this pizza on a personal level. This pizza is some of the best pizza I have ever had. And I have had my fair share of pizza. Let me tell you why my review is worth reading. It all started in November of 89. I was welcomed into this world with flashy colors like lime, pinks, and sky blues. The hair was big. The rock was rockin. The pizza? Fantastic. The 80s was known for the countless pizza shops on every street corner. All the kids used to say āI canāt wait to have some āZaā todayā. And boy, were they spoiled. Until, the 90s came. And then the 2000s. Cold, dark times lay ahead in the pizza world. Endless amounts of garbage plastered into cardboard boxes with no end in sight. Until, in 2008 our prayers were answered. Not only was Slice of the 80s opened, it brought back that same feel of pizza I once had as a 1 month old in 1989. Faith in humanity was restored. The pizza gods finally provided Metro Detroiters with some of the finest pizza that rockers like Alice Cooper and Jack White have ever had. It was because of Slice of the 80s pizza that rock is still a genre of music. I for one donāt even own a single menu from another pizza establishment. Iām only getting my Za from Slice of the 80s. Any time I have some dough in my pocket, I ask the Slice of the 80s crew to whip up some dough in the form of a pepperoni filled masterpiece. Pepperoni not your style? Thatās okay, you can create anything you want! Itās truly easy cheesy to order what you desire online, over the phone, or in the store. Anyone who doesnāt give Slice of the 80s a chance is a real Pizza work, let me tell you. Everything about the pizza is fantastic. Cheese? Check. Toppings? Yes, pease. Crust? 10/10 would dip in ranch. In the words of Freddy Mercury, āAnother one bites the crustā. Now of you canāt be convinced to purchase your pizza from Slice, I feel sorry for you that youāre missing out on such a great pizza and I would consider that a breach of crust. And for those of you that do choose the Slice, it sure would be slice to meet...

This time, I noticed that as the cashier rang me up the prices were higher than the advertised menu in front of me. The worker said that they had recently had a price change. I asked if they could honor the price that I'm looking at in front of me and was told no. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PRICES ON THE MENU. That's customer service 101.
I usually don't bother to review restaurants. But they need to hear what I have to say because my recent experiences have been less than enjoyable. I hope this gets to a manger/owner as a coaching opportunity for the staff. I have been to this location a handful of times. I usually love the Kickin Chicken pizza. My second to last visit, the pizza was fine but the Mega 80s cookie I ordered was not cooked through at all! It was like eating warm cookie dough. I called to let them know and the manager offered me a free Mega cookie on my next visit. Today I went, ordered another Kickin Chicken pizza and Mega cookie. First off I asked for butter parm crust and instead I got butter garlic. It was a gross combination, as garlic does not taste good on this type of pizza. I didn't notice there was garlic on it until I was halfway home (the smell filled my car and I checked my receipt). Also, there was wayyy too much bbq sauce on the pizza, so much so that it dripped when I bit into a slice. Then my mega cookie was pretty much like the last time... UNDERCOOKED. Both times I had to take it home and put it in the oven. The girl at the register claimed it's how they make them when clearly the pictures they advertise are of a done, fully cooked Mega cookie. Not that! I wish I had taken pictures. I really don't know if I'll go back anytime soon. If I do, no Mega 80s cookie for me! And I'll double check my pizza before I leave. 3 Star rating is me...

My Review: Cons-The āExtremeā Cheese Bread was disappointing. It tasted(and looks almost) as if it was a regular cheese bread, which Iām guessing it might be, as the āExtremeā supposedly comes with marinara AND ranchā¦.and I only got marinara so š¤·š¾āāļø a little overcooked, not cheesy at all. Iād probably have been better off getting an ICB at Little Skeezers. 3/5. The tenders were a little lacking seasoning wise. And that one off piece could irk a nerve, uniformity is key. 4/5. The Calzoneā¦.Iāve been patiently waiting for Papa Johns to bring there Burger Papadia back, so instead Iāve been opting to find a replacement. This was almost it. The burger sauce was lacking flavor, which would be my only real complaint. I donāt think seasoning is a big player here. Pros-The only pro I can take away that would make me try more is the Calzone. It was STUFFED. The buttery parm finish is something most places that offer calzones lack, I appreciate that. I ended up hungry enough to eat both halves, but even eating one half is a feat in itself. The meat was juicy, the calzone itself was cooked veryyyyy nicely.
Wrap Up: I love Slice of the 80s. The Westland location was my go to for a few months, I love the nacho cheese crust and bread they offer, their pizzas are delicious af. Iād be privy to try another calzone, but bread wise, Iāll stick to my nacho cheese bread. Overall, 8/10, definitely...
