Lake Arlington — Attraction in Wheeling Township

My kids and I, specially my senior citizen mother, love this place. My mother loves this place when the weather is really nice (summer), because she loves the lake and walk around the lake.

My kids like it here a lot, of course, because of the play ground and they can ride their bike and scooter around the lake. My son loves to play soccer with the other kids in the large open field that has a large hill at the very end of the park. He also loves to fly his drone in this park, because he can fly it over the lake and it is still safe when others are around or near by the park.

Overall, it is an awesome place for both kids and the adults. Plenty to do for everyone and I specially like it in the evening during the sunset, because you can take really nice pictures.

Lake Arlington is like nature’s chill-out button in the middle of Arlington Heights. The walking path around the lake is perfect—flat enough that even my out-of-shape self didn’t need a defibrillator halfway through. Great for walking, biking, or pretending you jog.

Tried the paddle boats—super fun and surprisingly clean, which I wasn’t expecting (I’ve seen some sketchy paddle boats in my time). Staff were friendly, helpful, and knew their stuff.

The boathouse cafe was stocked with snacks that didn’t require me to take out a second mortgage—big win. Hot pretzels, pizza, hot dogs and Hershery’s ice cream offerings, and single or double scoop cones.

Great children playground, but missing light source, so when it gets bit darker, there's a chance your kid will smack his head in to something, but if you like rollerblading, trail around the lake is pretty busted in some areas, even after remodeling, giant cracks were just sealed, even though these issues have been reported to AH park district. Boat ramp has been completely redisigned and its very difficult to bring your boat over to it, you have to walk through sloped grass, step over concrete blocks, doors and hope not twisting your ankle. Water access area has been (aka Beach area) reduced in size. Fense sorrounding the beach area is a complete mess, looks very unprofessional. What was the point of all this...
