where to begin.. I've been wanting to come check out karamoor for some time, and finally found the right occasion. We arrived at the vineyard, which, but the way, you are not allowed to see... and we went into the tasting room. This room was extremely loud, despite the fact that there were not many people there. The woman behind the bar told us we weren't allowed to be on that side of the bar and if we wanted to order, we had to move. We said ok, but that first we wanted to see the vineyard. She told us to walk outside and go by the fence, but that we cannot go through the fence. There was a man guarding the fence, saying, very rudely, that we were forbidden from even looking at the vineyard, And could only see a few poles sticking up from the ground, between a truck and some trees. We went back inside, this time on the correct side of the bar, and the same woman said, if we wanted to be at the bar, we could only have the entire tasting (5. glasses of which 3 are wines I do not drink) OR two bottles of wine and could drink them on our time, outside in the cold (it's 50 degrees Fahrenheit and windy/ overcast) . I asked if we could get 5 glasses of just 3 wines, and she said no. So, we left. Extremely rude staff, incredibly negative experience and a complete disappointment. Even if they had the best wine in the world (which they don't) , the way they treat their guests is deplorable. Big...
Read moreIt is nice to find another local Pennsylvania winery. We are always excited to try Pennsylvania wines. It's a beautiful property and the wines are very good. The tasting area that is open to the public, is an outdoor bar set up. They do have an indoor tasting room next to the vineyards, but by reservation only during certain times. The wine tastings at the outdoor tasting bar are $25 a person and/or you can just get a bottle of wine. No pets are allowed or any one under the age of 21 (children are not allowed). There is also no food available at the outdoor bar. The wines were very nice. The Rośe ($20) was especially good (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot)... and we're not usually Rośe drinkers. The whites were nice.... light approachable. The 2015 Cabernet Franc ($30) was lovely. The Meritage ($32, I think) was a beautiful balanced blend of Cab. Sauv., Cab. Franc, Merlot and P. Verdot. Overall, it was a nice experience. The outdoor space was cute and the wine was very nice. On the flipside, there is no food available (you can bring your own), no kids are allowed (this eliminates families) and the tasting cost is much higher than other...
Read moreA day of drizzling rain did not damper our enthusiasm for the excellent tour led by Cheri. A driving tour through the vineyard took our breathe away as it included not only the various fields of grapes but lovely ponds and manicured lawns on the hundreds of acres that make up the private estate. The walk into one of the fields of grapes and then through the processing areas in the main building was informative we learned just what is involved from the beginning to the end of the process.
The venue for tasting was festive and cozy with a lovely view of the vineyard. Our group enjoyed tasting award winning varieties of wines. The best end to this day was that each of us purchased favorite varieties to enjoy at another time!
We look forward to the completion of the tasting room on Butler Pike that will be open to the public. This boutique winery is a gem for our area and its wines are...
