I recommend going to the Delaware Children’s Theatre in Wilmington for the following reasons:
It is a real, live theatre experience, directed and performed by professionally trained directors and actors along with talented children in age appropriate roles. Each show features live music performed by their own Pit Orchestra, and beautifully designed sets and costumes. The theatre itself is listed as on the National Register of Historic places. For a little more than the price of a movie, it is a great value, and the cost of concessions is nominal. Front row seats are the same cost as any other seat, and they have a really cool balcony. Plus you can meet and take photos with the cast at the end of each show. Plays allow children to live in a pretend world, and I see kids at the theatre fully engaged mentally and emotionally. The actors lead us through the story and the children are pretending right along with them. Young and old alike take the journey together, which is a thrilling and special experience a family can share together, something uncommon in this age...

It was easy to buy tickets ahead of time and there is parking across the street. I would get there early if you want seats in the front or guaranteed parking though because everything was almost full when I got there 15 minutes ahead...
